    Piston Rings

I have always used Dave Reed at Otto Gas Engines. (410) 398-7340 He is reasonably priced and good quality.

    Tiny I.C. finished

Beautiful engine. I really like the speed control you have with the vapor carburetor.

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Congratulation Stefan, another great little runner. This is the first one I have seen use a vapor carb. That should solve the problem of standard carbs vapor locking from too much engine heat transferring to the carb. If you get a chance could you show photos of the vapor carb along with some...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Stefan, I am curious about that third gear under the crank shaft. I don't recall seeing a set up like that before. What is the purpose of that gear. Looking forward to seeing another Tiny running. Arv

    Engines for sale

It has been quite a long time since I have contributed to this forum although I am lurking on it every day. I still enjoy following a lot of the builds and seeing some of the finished engines. I have three Associated engines (2 water cooled & 1 air cooled) that are about 75% done. It has...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Gus, thanks for the compliment on Tiny I.C. It was a fun build for me & I still run it now & then. There have been many people that have built the engine, most of who have added their own modifications and improvements. Each one is sharper than the last. I'll be following your build to see...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Graemep, Congratulations on building your first IC engine. Tiny I.C. is not an easy engine to build. I'll bet we see a lot of I.C. engines out of you in the future. I really like they way you displayed your engine on the piston. Is that lever on the back side for adjusting timing? Looking...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Bob, that is a beautiful engine. I am delighted to still see some interest in the Tiny I.C. You, Gail, John, and several others have taken my design way beyond what I ever imagined it would be.

Hello Bill, glad to see another Minnesota member. Hope you have as much fun with this hobby as I have had.

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Gail, I recieved a PM from XanderJanssen with the same question about the compression ratio. I never bothered to stop and figure the compression ratio as mine seemed to run OK as it was. You took your engine far beyond mine as far as perfecting the carbon piston, lapping the cylinder, and...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Gail, I just saw your latest Tiny I.C. project. WOW!!! It is very creative the way you put it to work. I just love it. You have both of your engines running so smooth. I hope to get back in the shop come winter and maybe try something similar. You are a real inspiration to get me motivated.

    Finger chucks?

I have used one of these chucks since the mid 60's and have had very good luck with them. The smallest drill I have used is .009". If you are building small gas engines, they work very good when making carburetors. I use mine in the mill and lathe. I would recommend the Albrecht chuck. It...

    Stressproof???

Dean, I think you will find that 1144 machines so nice and easy that making a flat piece out of 5/8 dia. will only take a few minutes and you will have a good piece of stress free steel.

    Angled Bearing surface

Bob, when I work with castings I usually do a layout first to make sure all of the casting details are on location. Sometimes they are not. The next thing I do is machine the bottom surface to the proper location (x.000 from bottom surface to C/L of cylinder). Then I set up and drill & ream or...

    Crankshaft problems

I don't know how to recover the crank you have, but if you are forced to make a new one, you might consider using 1144 stress free steel. I have made many single throw cranks using this steel and it is very nice machining and very stable. Cost is slightly more than CRS. As far as I know it is...

    February Project of the Month

Congratulations MB. That's a huge project that is very well documented. Soon we'll see a whole bunch of new engines running.
