    V4 14.59 CI

Its finally complete. Test running is next. On a warmer day. Jeff, I added a carb warmer below the manifold. Warm water will run thru it. John

    V4 14.59 CI

Jeff, that's a good point. I considered the problem but haven't come up with a simple way to do it. An exhaust cross-over tube maybe. John

    V4 14.59 CI

Chuck, the ends were TIG welded on as were the mounting flanges. John

    V4 14.59 CI

Minh, the bores look rough due to grease. after they were honed i knew they would sit for a while before i got back to more activity, John

    V4 14.59 CI

Chuck, yes. It started as 4x4x1/2 aluminum angle. I’d use this method again.

    Progress is happening again.

    V4 14.59 CI

The parts came from a Honda GX25. My guess about the pistons is that Honda has more than one supplier. There’s really not much of a dish in the two you see.

    V4 14.59 CI

I’m going to use two units that each fire two cylinders.

    V4 14.59 CI

Having had bad luck with fabricated hall effect sensors, this time I plan to use an RCexl set up.

    V4 14.59 CI

I mis-typed in the title; the displacement is 10.0 CI. The bore is 1.377 and the stroke is 1.686. John

    V4 14.59 CI

I'm working on a V4 engine I designed. The crankcase is a weldment but the rest is made from solid on manual machines. It will be fueled by gasoline or propane but I'm not sure which way to go. If it runs well it will likely power a boat of about six feet long. I'm not a purist and my machines...

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

For those interested in the finished boat underway, I finally have video. It's running on glow fuel and glow ignition in these videos. Blue smoke in the low speed video is due to a low speed miss on one cylinder.

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

It’s got an aluminum prop that’s has a modified diameter. It started as a 70m/1.4 prop

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

Ray it’s an alcohol carb with a reducer in the barrel. Yes it’s extremely sensitive but I’m not sure what shape another needle should be. Do you have a drawing of a good one? John

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

I finally got the engine to where it belongs. It's got an improved camshaft and is ready for a run in a pond. see the video here of the trial run.

    4 cylinder/4 stroke mystery engine

What a great boat and a great engine. Both inspire me to build more of each. I’m intrigued with the clutch and gearbox. I realize this interest should be discussed in another separate post but if anyone has drawings or plans of a clutch and gearbox that would work in a model boat I’d be...

Thanks, what is the length of the rods? John

    ENV aero engine project

Absolutely fantastic work. That is an inspiration on several levels. Any chance you can share the specs? Bore, stroke, rod length, and cam timing chart? Thanks, John

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

Thank you Jeff. Is there a good way to get copies of the article(s) or should I look for back issues? John

    Another Water-Cooled Twin

I ran the engine again withe a reduced-size venturi of 6mm. it didn't make a difference in mixture sensitivity but it seems to allow more variation in fuel tank height without consequence. I checked the valve timing and was very disappointed to learn of my great error in planning and design. I...
