Hi Tony, I too have a tailstock turret,mines about 45yrs old & they're really usefull, I notice you using your "diamond" turning tool,I also bought mine from australia I have lh & rh & their parting tool all great quality, one thing puzzles me is are you using it on brass or bronze safety...

Hi Chuck, yes they really have some blast!! I have the same one & if I put it on full blast it blows the coke out of the chimney,that's why I put a disk valve of alloy over the inlet & it swivels on a sprung nut & bolt & you can controll it nicely Graham.

Do you want to smelt or do you want to melt?? never done any " smelting" myself so can't advise, but you can easily melt cast iron with coke if you have a decent blower,my first built furnace I built 40odd yrs ago with info from b terry aspins book foundrywork for the amateur,no internet to make...
