My first engine, a PM research #5

Nikhil, Very nice, looks like you did well on the PM 5 especially since it was your first build. I built one a few years ago and once I got it all dialed in it really runs great. It will run very slow on just a couple pounds of air pressure, nice and smooth. Congrats and hope to see it running...

    Scratch built Holt 75 engine

I have a set of plans and instructions that I purchased from Coles a number of years ago. Thought I might get a set of castings to build that engine but never worked out. Would be glad to share, loan or gift to someone if they are interested. Not sure how well they would copy but that may not...

    Hubbard Marine Engine

Very nice! I had the same problem with mine, could not get it to run more than a 15 seconds. Anyway I converted it to a 4 stroke design and she really runs nice. What was a winter project turned into a couple year ordeal, but was really fun to figure out. Bob

Another Rupnow vertical ic with a few twists

Brian, Hope the attached pix help out. I did run a second cam shaft next to the exhaust cam shaft. Ended up that they are .250 off center so .500 center to center. That happened to work out great for a 12 tooth 24dp gear on each. I pressed on both gears with locktite so limited to 30 degree per...

Another Rupnow vertical ic with a few twists

Recently finished my build of the vertical ic engine designed by Brian Rupnow. Thanks Brian. Just strayed a little from the plans in a few areas. -Went with brass cylinder with a steel liner just because I had a 2" piece on hand. -Built the frame out of 3 pieces of aluminum since I did not...

    The Hubbard 1912

Hi Dave, I still have mine, need to fine tune a few things. Had a real short run but believe i need to work some more on the carb setup. Have had a lot of other things come up along the way so I put on back burner. Are you building one? Look forward to hearing about your progress. bob...

    Machining a flywheel

I will often use a parallel or two behind the work piece to get it square to the chuck. Just be sure to remove them before starting. Works for me most of the time. Bob

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Errol, Nice looking engines you have made. I too just completed a Tiny and a Powerhouse engine this winter. I am sure you probably verified spark, compression, and fuel draw. My exhaust valve is pretty well closed by tdc but not sure that would make much difference. I did have to adjust my...

    Powerhose engine

Barry and necchiom, thanks for your kind words. Sorry to say I did not keep a build log on this one. Got to say that I really enjoyed the build, plans from Jerry Howell were excellent. I spent a lot of time on the valves and valve cages making sure of fit and finish. After fighting turning the...

Thank you Arv for the compliment and for posting the plans for this neat little engine. I've had several runs with it and each time seems to get better. Really an enjoyable challenging build. Now guess I need to find video software to post a video of it running. Thanks to all posters on this...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Thanks Gail, I've enjoyed following a lot of your posts and have gained a lot of insite from them. My Tiny is pretty much stock build I still have to use electric start may need to fine tune the intake valve spring. Using 87 octane gas and a little wd40 oil. So far cooling not a problem...
