In a sortof related problem is the check vlv on steam engine oilers seem to be really prone to getting debris in them. I'd like to see some really decent check vlv designs for different fluids and pressures.

whats keeping the pilot flame lite? seems like a really small space to keep a flame in?

Usually happens when the load on my 1/3 scale traction engine is removed also but there it allows the fire to reduce dropping steam generation a tad, better than popping the relief valve.

one thing that needs addressing is the cyl oil in the condensate from a reciprocating engine , turbines don't have that problem. but there are schemes for getting it done. I saw a full size A.D. Baker traction engine where it was using both super heaters and recaptured water at like 300 psi...

Do I have this correct ,your planning on building a boiler out of 3/16 wall aluminum tube 4 inches in dia. . the end caps are held on with 8-32 screws and sealed with rubber o rings . your planning on running this at 50-100psi?

On many of full size traction engine boilers and some models , in the us don't use a bushing for any penetration's where they can get like 3 threads. Some of the crown sheets don't have a bushing where the fusible plug penetrates. Alot of the models and or new boilers do have bushings...

Alot of the casting kits are cast in fairly limited numbers like in the low hundreds at best. So if you see a kit available and think you maybe want to build it in the future buy the kit now. Seems like the 8" to 12 or so fly wheel dia.s run the nicest.

think of it as evening out the wear on the quill splines. or compensating for a surplus of either left or right lathe bits?
