reliability of electronics in cnc conversions

I wasn't asking for trouble shooting my heap just asking what sort of reliability others were having.

    Electric car plant

I suppose if you had a really really big solar storm and managed to strip off part of the atmosphere........

reliability of electronics in cnc conversions

I'm not sure there is a commercial conversion kit. you an get appropriate sized hiwin balls screws but like the block that holds the two ball nuts had to be completely fabricated, the z quill axis was pretty much the same. the electrics are the 220 volt ac servos and and drivers and breakout...

reliability of electronics in cnc conversions

stuff is shielded and all as per the factory recommendations. and I did not bundle the encoder wires , power wires and , prox. wires , would look alot nicer though.

reliability of electronics in cnc conversions

I was thinking mine is over built with 1kw servos and the matching drivers , and I'm running it maybe once or twice a week. Ive got spike arrestors on every thing that you can. and a couple 5" cooling fans with filters blowing thru the box. so I'm guessing heat isn't the problem.

reliability of electronics in cnc conversions

I've had several failures over the last 7 years of various electronic parts in my DIY cnc conversion of my bridgeport styled enco knee mill. I've gone thru 3 servo drives and 3 breakout boards and 4 proximity switches all just sorta out of the blue where its running fine and then its not...

    Fuel check valve

In a sortof related problem is the check vlv on steam engine oilers seem to be really prone to getting debris in them. I'd like to see some really decent check vlv designs for different fluids and pressures.

    Black smoke from steam engines

Usually happens when the load on my 1/3 scale traction engine is removed also but there it allows the fire to reduce dropping steam generation a tad, better than popping the relief valve.

How to recycle engine exhaust steam back to the boiler?

one thing that needs addressing is the cyl oil in the condensate from a reciprocating engine , turbines don't have that problem. but there are schemes for getting it done. I saw a full size A.D. Baker traction engine where it was using both super heaters and recaptured water at like 300 psi...

    Model boiler design information

Like he said quality is pretty decent just run them slow and make sure they are highspeed steel

    Model boiler design information

Do I have this correct ,your planning on building a boiler out of 3/16 wall aluminum tube 4 inches in dia. . the end caps are held on with 8-32 screws and sealed with rubber o rings . your planning on running this at 50-100psi?

boiler explosion. what not to do.

On many of full size traction engine boilers and some models , in the us don't use a bushing for any penetration's where they can get like 3 threads. Some of the crown sheets don't have a bushing where the fusible plug penetrates. Alot of the models and or new boilers do have bushings...

Using a CNC Mill as Lathe

awesome Mike! I tried it making some polycarbonate lens for an optical center punch doing that , couldn't get the finish I needed

    Question on drilling brass parts

At work in a tool and die shop we had a lot of Cleveland and other name brands, there were a surprisingly large number of poor drills in the mix backward sharpening's , poor concentricity , or weird tempering. Now with harbor freight type , the fit and finish may not be as good but in...

PM research red wing air cooled drawings

the water cooled(I'm assuming is pretty similar) is calling for a 2.625 from the bottom. it looks like 3.342 wide with the main bearing bosses sticking out the most. and an 8 in flywheel. maybe some fairly careful disc sanding on the bottom then on to emery on the bottom. if you were to...

why people like low speed hit and miss engine?

Alot of the casting kits are cast in fairly limited numbers like in the low hundreds at best. So if you see a kit available and think you maybe want to build it in the future buy the kit now. Seems like the 8" to 12 or so fly wheel dia.s run the nicest.

    1/3 Scale Case Steam engine

Good thing, :)most of the full size engines that you walk between at the shows are R stamped. Getting back to topic the three chime sounds great. what air pressure?

    Wrong way fly cutter

think of it as evening out the wear on the quill splines. or compensating for a surplus of either left or right lathe bits?
