    Ring grooves

Checkout the Thinbit line of inserts from the Kaiser Tool Company. They range from .004" on up in 001" increments, and work great for ring grooving.

    Making a distributor cap

I have machined several distributor caps out of acetal. Machines easily, the only issue is a high coefficient of expansion, about 4 times that of aluminum, which has to be taken into account.

    valve stem turning

Model Engine Builder magazine issue #7 had a build article on a valve machining jig that formed valve stems in one bite. I made a similar "box tool" to do the job with great success.

    Wanted Source Model nuts washers

I have been using American Model Engineering Supply, Inc. (americanmodeleng.com) for fasteners for years. Small quantities available, good service. Washers I usually make up myself, easy to do and come out cleaner than supplied numbers.

    Youngster's simple electric motor

    Gas tank

Use a small diameter (0.060" O.D.) fuel line, put a full loop in it between the tank and the carb, and position the tank so that the top fuel level is just below the jet outlet in the carb venturi. My hit & miss engines will suck the tank dry with this arrangement without the use of a check valve.

    Radial cam/gearcase lube

The Jemma is a seven-cylinder spark-ignition radial of 40.5 cc designed by Eric Tomlinson and published in Strictly I.C. in the Dec. 1999 issue and following. It features open pushrods and rockers. The gear train is a 8 to 1 reduction using spur gears only (no internal gear) and the tappets...

    Radial cam/gearcase lube

Finishing up a "Jemma" radial, and wondering if anyone has experience using grease to lube the cam/gearcase of a radial. What product does Black & Decker/Milwaukee/Makita use for lube in their tools? Would this be suitable? It would seem that gear oil is going to leak past the tappets unless...
