    Thread Dial

See attached for what I calculated for your lathe based on the information you have given, hopefully it makes sense, have a look and try a few different threads out.

    Thread Dial

When I purchased my lathe I was told the lathe is made in different factory’s at different times, sometimes they come with a 16mm tool post and sometimes a 12mm tool post, could be a similar thing with the dial. It’s a bit odd though the 20 tooth gear works out a bit better. I modified my table...

    Thread Dial

I have the same lathe, I made a table to show what threads I could use with the thread chasing dial and what segment I could engage the half nut in. My thread chasing dial has a 20 tooth gear and 4 segments on the dial, not every metric thread pitch works with this setup, so I made another dial...

Quick changing tool for the lathe

Of the ones in the attachment you posted you want the 250-201 for standard square cutting tools up to 16mm and the 250-202 for round boring bars, the rest are to small or to big and won't fit your tool post. As suggested above you can get different holders for other tools, the parting tool...

    Plans for casting

Aluminium (old car wheels) sand casting basically just following Myfordboys method. Now I’m looking for the next project, maybe a beam engine, will be interested to see what you come up with.

    Plans for casting

For my first casting and engine build I just modified Mr Pete 22’s vertical steam engine design from his you tube channel. I just used his dimensions and made a pattern and cast the main body instead of machining it from stock. Pretty simple and runs really well.

    Hi from downunder

Attached is a picture of the chart I made for the AL320 thread chasing dial, I’m not sure if I could have made it any more confusing if I tried. The standard thread chasing dial has a 20 tooth gear but I have also made another dial with a 21 tooth gear to cover the threads the standard dial...

    Hi from downunder

You only need the thread chasing dial when the half nut is disengaged so you can re-engage the half nut in the same place on the lead screw, so when you take the next cut the cutting tool lines up with the last cut. The half nut is driven by the thread on the lead screw and is used for thread...

    Hi from downunder

Hi Ron, I also have an AL320 lathe, the thread chasing dial should only turn when the half nut is disengaged, when the half nut is engaged the carriage (and thread chasing dial) will move along the lathe bed at what ever thread cutting speed you have set, because the thread chasing dial is...
