    Monosoupape threads sizes and errata.

Regarding the 1/5 scale, 49cc Chenery monosoupape, Elliot asked me what BA sizes were used in the engine. My drawings have faded to the point of complete illegibility- My Dad tried to send me his, but that didn't work out, but I have my engine parts to look at, so I can say with certainty that...

    Steam sirens revisited...

Good morning Chaps! I've started making a small siren, >2" body. Apart from a brief description on " instructables " there is a lamentable paucity of information on the 'net... I intend to run it on compressed air at 90 psi, so unless I am advised against doing so, it will be a ball or needle...

    Lumatic/ Tecalemit one shot oilers...

I'm asking about the types where you pull a plunger, and oil is ditributed automatically to all slideways. Has anyone refurbished one here? -Andrew UK.

    Wanted Britan bits!

Hello Folks! I own an H32 "Britan" repetition lathe, and need to get it fully up to scratch. Now Andrew Engineering have finished up, can anyone tell me of a source of spares? Specifically, I'm looking for a 2 MT tailsock quill, the plate for power drilling that pivots off the tool tray, the...

    Westbury balance

I'm an ETW fan, and note that his little engines often specify the conrods as bronze or duralumin. On my engines I always go for the latter. Looking at my Kiwi last night, it struck me that there is nothing on the drawing about amending the crank counterweights, ditto for the Seagull or Wallaby...

    Cam/valve timing...

Can anyone point me to a thread giving a 101 on cam timing? I keep on building engines, but I've never done it before! The engine in question is an aircooled Westbury Seagull, inspired by Charles Lamont. (Then there's a Kiwi, Whippet and Wallaby...) Thanks! Andrew UK

    Stuart 600!

Good afternoon, folks! My Father has had the good fortune to obtain a set of castings for this engine, and has been poring over the drawings for a week or three, on the basis that you can't f#£k anything up by thinking about it. However, both he and I are stumped by the workings of the valve...

    Lady Stephanie

Hello Chaps! I'm building one of these engines, and I wonder if anyone has any advice regarding the lower covers? I have cut the steel, I've purchased the half-round brass beading, but I haven't worked out how to actually DO it! Of course, if anyone can let me have a copy of the EIM article(s)...

    Counterweighting with "heavy metal"

Much as I love the music genre, this is a quite serious question, as some designs, the "Matador 10cc" in this case calls out for "heavy metal" inserts to be incorporared into the crank counterweight. If the designer was referring to tungsten, I'm sure the drawings would have called tungsten out...

    Les Chenery's Monosoupape

Chaps, I have made patterns to reproduce Les Chenery's 1/5th scale Monosoupape crankcase castings, with the blessing of Les' son John, who still sells the drawings. I am writing here to try and gauge if there is likely to be any interest at this stage; prices will come later, and I'm not asking...

    Milling profiles (Help!)

Folks, I'm usually a Westbury builder, but I've recently started a Whittle V8. The timing gear cover has a basic profile with many lugs around the periphery which the studs pass through... How on earth do you machine these things manually?! I don't know how to upload photos, but here's a link...
