    3/16 rod

    Used to get 3/16 steel rod for model boat propeller shafts. Was able to easily drill 1/16 hole and thread 10-32. All rod available now is too hard to drill or tap. Not sure what it was that I bought in the past that was so forgiving.

    J.E.H. Farmboy

    Now building a second Farmboy. My first runs great but dies after heating up. Usually 30 - 45 minutes. I put antifreeze in the water hopper, but doesn't seem to have any effect. After cooling it starts right back up for another 30 - 45 minutes. Wonder if I'm the only one with this cooling...

    O-ring for piston ring

    Decided to try starting my Jerry Howell Farm Boy. I used the recommended vinyl o-ring in place of a cast iron ring. Almost no compression. Has anyone had success with these o-rings?

    Nickel plating

    Tried my hand at nickel plating. May have left item in solution too long. It turned black. The black does polish off, but the result is an odd silver/yellow color.

    Temporary attachment intake/exhaust pipes

    Want to temporarily attach brass intake/exhaust pipes to flanges while on the engine. After temp attachment remove everything from the engine and solder the works permanently. I'm reluctant to put any heat on the flange and pipes while on their aluminum engine heads.

    Duclos hit and miss engine.

    Engine starts easily and very reliable. Made it about 20 years ago. Problem is when it fires it jumps around on the table. My friend made same engine and it just runs along very smoothly. Possibly firing is off?

    Edwards Radial Engine

    Having difficulty understanding the gear setup. Seems like there is a gear missing in my plans. I don't understand how the crankshaft mates up with the idler gear arrangement to the outer gear ring. I keep looking for a gear on the crankshaft itself.
