    5 Cylinder radial (winter's project)

Hi George A 11x5 is a rather small prop for a Four-Stroke engine your size. Plastic props are the heaviest according to makers sites and wood is the lightest (I thought is was the other way round).

    Scn?rle Porting in Alibre Design

This is my way of doing Schn?rle Porting on a Two-Stroke cylinder in Alibre Design. The ports in this example isn't optimized in size, timing nor matching each other, but it should give you a pretty good idea on how to do it with a satisfying result.

    300 year of steampower - Newcomen 1712 - July 9-13th.

Hi John Thanks for your response - I wasn't thinking about the commercial side of the jubilee, but I must admit that things aren't exactly going the way I would prefer myself and I'm certainly saddened by the fact that almost everything is evaluated on money nowadays :'( I agree that I put a...

    Super Tigre G32 1cc diesel - a 5cc version

Hi Ramon I really enjoyed your build - fantastic  - but could we get a video of it running with sound, please !!!!

    300 year of steampower - Newcomen 1712 - July 9-13th.

I must admit that I'm somewhat surprised that no one of our steam enthusiasts have responded - not so much about the link to the copy - but the fact that we wouldn't have the Industrial revolution without these two men and their inventions. So a triple and double centennial this year, ought to...

    Spark source

    I just stumbled across a possible source : http://www.skpang.co.uk/catalog/spark-gap-igniter-48v-p-1105.html?zenid=bj2a8bb2m57julrmc4nqdufq67

    Wear your protective gear

Glad to hear that you all are reasonably OK. I've took the first dive in 1987 - the car I was overtaking suddenly turned left without any warning :o Nothing broken and only the right arm in a sling for seven weeks to cure the soft tissue. The next where the big one : 1st of April 1994 - very...

    taking the plunge

There has been some arguments about it earlier on this forum and most believe that the only way to set up your lathe is having it totally leveled horizontally - it will work in other directions too, it's just harder to set it up so there's no twisting forces in the chassis.

Mills 1.3cc diesel - Plans by Ron Chernich from Model Engine Builder magazine

Sorry to hear that you can't get them running normally. I can't help think that it might be the classic problem of a to big venturi - not enough vacuum to lift the fuel.

    Rhodes Shaper!!!!

True - BUT ...!... You can't be sure that the terminals are in the same positions or means the same in another brand or from different periods of time - so take care. You should be able to differe between the terminals with a multimeter if the plates are removed - NOT PLUGGED IN. You should be...

    Bollaero fixtures

Go to http://modelenginenews.org/ and search "Building the Sparey 5cc Diesel". It can be done in different ways, but here, Ron shows you how to do it with success.

    Stew's Little Orphan

A darker and deeper green, and it will look a lot like some of the beautiful old German steam engines I've seen over the years. So sad that the original builder couldn't finish it and so glad that it found another loving home.

    Lathe speeds up when cutting

You have a problem with the variable speed controller - my guess is that it's overcompensating for load. I haven't got any better suggestions than Don or Greg, but I would very much like to know how you do get it solved, since this is a lathe I very much consider buying myself.

    [My Design] - 1 Cylinder 4 Stroke

Looking good. A methanol glow-plug ignition needs a compression between 8:1 and 8.5:1 to run .... Although I'm not sure - do you have a way to adjust the valve clearance ? .... If what I think might be adjusters, how are they locked ?

how to get the bollaero 18 started

As much as I love this place on the net - when it comes to small airplane engines - especially diesels (compression ignition) - you really should check http://modelenginenews.org/ Ron is one of those who has build and flown them for many years and his site has some very good articles (with...

    Alibre 2012

Well I have to start somewhere, so how do you make 1 to 1 ratio gears mesh up in Alibre Design Pro 2012 ?

    Let there be light!

If you have a good look, you can see that Tricplate uses a more powerful LED (not same model or housing). The epoxy coating is important in more ways than moisture - it will also protect against chips and dust + mechanical abuse (below a certain amount).

    Alibre 2012

Hi Dave Exactly how do you make Alibre move the gears correctly ? I have Alibre Design Pro 2012 and haven't found the solution on that problem and didn't get at good answer on the Alibre forum either and I must admit that it frustrates me that I can't "test" my engine design on four-strokes as...

    Modern Steam Engine

Hi Eric Pat (UNIcastings) and I where talking about radials without a master-rod as in the video and all the ones you're mentioning are the conventional radial with master-rod and slave-rods - unless I misunderstood you ;)
