Need some AC servo motor education

Kermit, Thank You This now opens a whole new project for me. My Smithy has a 1/3 HP DC motor now so even at 3/4 HP that's a plus. Also the control has step/Direction inputs which I think will work with Mach3. This just might give me positioning. This could be fun. I also got a 1500 watt...

Need some AC servo motor education

I need some brushless AC Servo motor education. I pickup a brushless Ac servo motor and a Pacific Scientific controller this week. I did a quick web search before buying and they seem to match. My question is the motor is sped'ed at 750 Watts. I converted that to HP on Google converter and it...

    Question for the Cracker builder

I finished the turning on the first rod, put two small groves in the piston end. Won't have to call it a ashtray(Bill Cosby) Photo shows the stainless bolt I started with. If I'm lucky I'll get the turning on the second one done tomorrow night. Then I can setup the mill and do the conrod ends.

    Question for the Cracker builder

Shred, I was looking at the "Ideas" to build and did not like the overall look of it. the Cracker has more of the "Thomas The Tank Engine" look. I am going to quarter the the crank and hoope for a self starter. All the Cracker builds here has given me the inspration to give this a try, I am...

    Question for the Cracker builder

Vernon, I think I read somewhere on here that the cylinder should start to blow by the cylinder and the plate at about 25-30lbs, so that is what I was going to shot for. I can only hope to for a project to look half as nice as the master work I see here, I look at what you'all have done and it...

    Question for the Cracker builder

Thanks everyone, I am going to go with. If I have to make a new one I guess it doesn't matter when I make it. This is what I have done sofar, I wanted to wait and get a little farther alone before posting any photos. I am trying something a little different and adding a second cylinder on the...

    My copy of Chucks Engine

This is my work in progress, I started it way back when The drawing was posted. I,m slower then most others. I know the gears are to large for the engine, they where all I could find. I have started on the flywheel that I got from Tiny Power.

    Show Us Your Lathe

Here is my lathe, it is a Smithy 1220XL. I have converted it to cnc but with the MPG's I can use it as a manual at any time. I have as much fun changing the lathe as I do makin engines. The lathe/mill now has ball screws on all three axis and linear bearings on the x-y/z ways.

    Machining sequence

Lugnut, Thank You for your question, I ordered flywheels from Tinypower just this morning and since I have never turned any casting before, all the answers are just what I need. By the way, the flywheel is also for "Chuck's Horizontal Single". Again thanks for asking and to all that answered...

Where have all the gears gone????

I'll second the old printers and copiers, some even have metal gears. If you have a copier sale near you check with there service department as they may have some that they will give you just to get rid of.
