    Mini Lathe cross slide handle

Decided to dump the factory design. Its a pain to use. Handle does not turn but rubs against the fingers. Redesigned one that can with end bearings. It worked even without the bearings. So did not install them.

Check your power lead screw bolts

Almost every area that is not exposed will have some kind of corner cutting work. But like what ShopShoe says, its works like this gave us opportunities to learn. I can tell you all users of mini lathe that the plastic gears are strong enough for all jobs if the machine is not binding. Later i...

Check your power lead screw bolts

I have never liked to use the power feed on the mini lathe. It was noisy and it just didn't feel good. The saddle also did not move very smoothly towards the opposite end of the chuck, it jammed up against the lead screw. Because most of the work piece is short, I never used the entire 17"...

Back plate for 4 inch rotary table

I build a backplate for this 4 slot 4 inch rotary table because one was available for sale. First make a MT2 brass arbor that will center the whole process of marking the holes for all the bolts. 8mm thick aluminium plate was used and the pictures speak for themselves. Special T slot M4 nuts...

Mini Mill X/Y Tram and Gas Springs

Hello to jtrout 13. I see a very nice mod using gas strut. I was concerned about the support point on the upper bracket of the gas strut. Let's assume that the CG of the head is some where near to the symmetry line of the motor then your design would have a turning moment about the CG.When the...
