Fuel for compression ignition engines (around 1 cc) - diesel model air plane engines

In my experience more than 12 months in a tightly sealed container, or just days in a bad container. You have a lot of air volume in the container which is not good.

Fuel for compression ignition engines (around 1 cc) - diesel model air plane engines

Back in the 60's and 70's Eifflander used to recommend 33% each of the 3 main components and then some ignition improver, which is basically their running in mix. I found that works great.

Mini Lathe Issues and Concept Execution

Jason Absolutely perfect. Then he would have just needed a half decent setup with the rotating tool mounted to the cross slide. Notice I say rotating tool, I doubt a Dremel is rigid enough for what was being described, the nose/front of a Dremel is a bit flexible.

Mini Lathe Issues and Concept Execution

It was an interesting challenge that the OP set. I doubt he resolved that problem with his skill levels.

    Nasty collets

Some of these bad collet sets are just not worth bothering with, some run out nearly as much as a three jaw chuck. In England (where you are) there is a company in Oxford called DJ Workholding and they sell the Fahrion collets, you will not be disappointed in those and you don't need to buy a...

    Greetings from Michigan

OK that is a shame, in Detroit it self there is so much industrial heritage (and wreakage) that it is a most interesting place to visit. The Ford factory at Piquet Avenue and then the High Land Park shell are interesting to me along with many others.

    Greetings from Michigan

Next time that I am in Michigan then I will visit Willow Run, I think that is fairly close to where you live. Is there much of the factory left where Ford made the B24 bombers in WW2, I am really interested in that era of manufacturing.

Expand the "Home Foundry and Castings Section" ?

I am very interested to read about casting practices for small engines. I support anything that adds more good content.

DOS on a dedicated computer is very reliable as your stamping press proves. If you only want to run one application at a time then DOS does great.

I remember you saying that your first lathe was a Unimat 3, blimey that was a slippery slope that your Dad set you down. The chap who I knew that built a Morley 47G had a Myford 7, this was back in the late 70's. Do you still have the Unimat? I have one and just today I have had a PeWe tools...

I am not sure that I agree with you on the 10 year old obsolescence of computers. Dedicate a computer to a single task and don't have it connected to the internet and it will give you amazing service for decades, I know because I am doing it.

The company is a UK company/bureau but he struggled to do more (I think his sub contractor went bust). I am now working witha University on a very inclusive project and will get my parts FOC. The best company to start off getting quotes from is Shapeways 3D Printing Service Online they have...

Model Engineering in the 21st Century

I fly fairly regularly with Peter Halman who was the development engineer at Irvines, he is very knowledgeable. So you are pretty good at soldering as well as machining if done a Morley 47G, I seem to remember that the tail boom was made up of soldered piano wire, looked very effective from...

Model Engineering in the 21st Century

We have done a deal with a University that majors in additive manufacturing, the NB40 will be used as part of the additive manufacturing course work and in return we get a number of FOC crankcases. The crankcase is not the hold up now, rather getting the aluminium cylinder chromed commercially...

Model Engineering in the 21st Century

I will watch the video out of interest this evening. You can see from the progress that we have made that we will be fairly wedded to the DMLS process and to beat it all I have found out an organisation who will do the DMLS printing for free !!

I guess that the high temperatures involved in iron casting maybe does away with my worries of deposits of PLA being left in the mould as I guess it just get obliterated. I am not sure that aluminium with the lower casting temps will handle this so well but stand to be proven wrong.

Model Engineering in the 21st Century

I guess my issue with lost PLA is that having run a lost was foundry I know the efforts that we went to stop the shells cracking, burning all the wax out and then firing the shells. I will have to take a look at lost PLA but like I say I have reservations based upon experience of lost wax...
