    Chinese ignition module

Regarding the Reed Switch, It's worth checking that the switch is not remaining closed after a spell of use. I had this problem with the same device. The unit worked fine for a short time then failed to generate a spark. I checked the switch and found it short circuit. Strangely, after leaving...

    Chinese ignition module

I could be wrong, but I think you will find that the sensor on that device (2 wire) is a reed switch

    Access to Construction Photos.

Hello All. It's a while since I posted a link on this forum, for access to photos and drawings of some of my engine projects. I have recently received messages from this forum stating that some members have tried to access the files on Google Drive, but the link no longer works. I have tried to...

    Radial cam/gearcase lube

Hello l.dullum. When I built this engine, I expected to get some oily mist blowby from the crankcase into the cam gearcase (My main bearing was not sealed) . In addition, before running the engine I would depress one of the valves in No 1 cylinder, remove the pushrod and tappet and give a couple...

A Stothert & Pitt beam engine.

Hello Jenny. Nice Work, I'm sure you will be very pleased with the end result. I enjoyed building mine and was satisfied with the completed model. Wish I felt the same enthusiasm for my current project.

Greetings from the East Riding of Yorkshire

Hello Jenny. Welcome to East Yorkshire. I live in Cranswick near Driffield and I also built the Stothert & Pitt Beam engine. (If you went to the Driffield Steam rally in August you would have seen it amongst my other engines). I look forward to following your progress.

My 'Starter Projects' from a long time ago

The governor is a working one, the drive pulley is on the crankshaft behind the valve eccentric and the driven pulley is at the base of the governor. There is no belt fitted in this photo. The far eccentric is for the water pump.

My 'Starter Projects' from a long time ago

I can't remember what I paid for the kits back then but I think they were relatively cheaper. All castings seemed to be cheaper and more available.

    A Martin Evans 'Jubilee'

Hello Charles The recent posts of engine photos. and construction slideshows cover just about everything engine related that I have built. I started model engineering around 1975 and apart from a break of around 4 years (77 to 81) I have been building engines almost continually. I also spent...

    A Martin Evans 'Jubilee'

Hello kvom. The loco is 3 1/2 gauge.

    A Martin Evans 'Jubilee'

This project was, many years ago, my goal in model engineering, a nice looking engine that I could ride behind. I steamed it up a number of times away from the track and rode behind it once only (a very satisfactory feeling). I then dismantled it, painted it and haven't built a fire in it...

    A pair of Minnies.

Hello Dave Thanks for the comments. I'm not certain what the paint was, it was many years ago but I suspect it was a specific colour sold by 'Precision Paints'. Probably something like 'Midland Red' (a loco colour) I believe that the green was 'Ruston and Hornsby Green' In the absence...

    A pair of Minnies.

The Minnie was my first 'Major' project. I had bought L. C. Mason's book a few years prior to starting the build (work introduced a 4 year break in model engineering). The construction took about 18 months. A few years later my daughter asked me to build one for her and the construction...

My 'Starter Projects' from a long time ago

Like a lot of budding model engineers, I started with a Stuart Turner kit. These were convenient. Without a well provisioned workshop, they contained most of what was needed to complete the job.

    Two more Radials.

The first of these was the second I/C engine I made. I had bought a copy of the drawings for the 'Morton M5' and this engine is based on that design. I learned a lot from that project. The second engine 'JEMMA' was the first engine I drew from scratch. It was an attempt to design my own...

    Two 'Eric Whittle' designs.

These two engines were built from construction series in 'Strictly I/C'.

    Two more 'Chenery' designs.

The V twin was my first I/C engine. I was so impressed with the way it performed, I was hooked on I/C engines for some time. The Gypsy 1 is another successful design by Chenery. Sounds good. No construction photos. Before my first Digital Camera.

    A 'Gnome' Rotary engine.

Hello petertha. Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately I haven't made a video of this engine, and until recently I wasn't a member of any forum so no further information. The only other build information is what I have posted recently on this forum.
