    Stuart Twin Launch

Hi Patrik and all, Sorry for another late post! I hope someone is still following. Any progress on the engine? I'd love to see some of the further steps. I've built a 10V, and a couple of '10' sized engines (latest is horizontal, first vertical was about 12 years ago) that I've designed...

A Smaller Steam Engine For A Smaller Boat

I'm still curious about using the tap to hob a worm gear. Have you been successful before with this technique?

    Stuart 10H build

Thanks. I've recently read through homews, but I don't recall a piece on the bearings. I'll look again. I did just figure out a mounting for my Starrett "Last Word" on the Sherline lathe. I was able to do a reasonable job on the two bosses of the steam chest. Should work out for the main...

    Stuart 10H build

I'm looking for details on machining the main bearings. Especially locating the casting for machining in the 4-jaw chuck. Same for locating the steam chest.

    Stuart 10H build

Thanks, no rush. I'm playing with my own design for a soleplate. I can mill it out of aluminum bar stock. I've been searching for pix, and I found quite a few that show the details of the soleplate. Alan

Bolton 12 Beam engine from scratch

Even machining an intricate beam out of bar stock (brass) can have it's problems. I was just finishing up the outside contour for a 9" beam on my Sherline mill, and the part nearly jumped off the bed when fully cut out! Stress had apparently built up in the part due to a considerable...

    Stuart 10H build

I successfully downloaded a couple, viewing image, and then viewing image again. Others still don't work, but I got the two main ones I wanted.

    Stuart 10H build

Sorry this post is SO late, but I want to build the engine, and would love to download some of the pictures. I'l like to see pictures of the sole plate and the full engine. But for some reason, I can download what appear to be .JPG files, but I can't open them on my system as .JPGs. Thanks...

An Upshur Farm Engine (first I.C.)

Yeah, I was so happy to find the thread, that I took a chance and posted. My old prints from buying the metal kit weren't that readable (and limited). I need to get building! So many projects, so little time.

    Electric boiler?

I remember finding/seeing a model boiler with an electric heater. Always wanted to build one. I now have an immersion heater coil from a commercial coffee brewer (expensive coffee by the cup brewer. Now I'd like to find the photos or plans. I might even have it. But with over 2500 PDF files...

Bolton 12 Beam engine from scratch

Thanks John, Seems like CTCtools sells the modulo cutters. I do see some on Victornet that could work. http://www.victornet.com/subdepartments/14-1/2-Degree-Gear-Cutters/1660.html Nice boiler, a little bit much for me. I'd like to build one. Alan Central Coast, CA, USA

Bolton 12 Beam engine from scratch

Hi Nhoj, The cutters I've been finding are more like $45 USD. I'd like to order a pair of 32 DP #3 and #6 cutters to make gears for an Eagle I.C. engine. I've only built steam engines up to now, I have a little beam engine I designed and build about 10 years ago on by Sherline lathe and mill...

An Upshur Farm Engine (first I.C.)

I know this thread has long ago closed, but can someone point me to the source of the plans for the Upshur engine? Are they from "Strickly I.C."? Thanks, Alan

Bolton 12 Beam engine from scratch

Nice engine! Where did you find the plans? It looks like the Stuart Beam engine, which I know was modeled off of an old engine. About ten years ago I designed and build a much smaller version of the beam engine, similar to the Stuart on my CNC'd Sherline mill. I'd like very much to...

    Rudy's Pioneer Engine

Yes, nice work indeed! Are the plans published in one of Rudy's books? Thanks
