    Rod's Aussie Shed

I think you may need a bigger shed! You have some very nice toys there.

    Another Knucklehead Build

To say this is impressive is short changing this build. Perfection would be closer.

    Philip Duclos Fire Eater

I think the timing is key to make this run better. I would be inclined to have the valve shut a little before the bottom of the stroke that would add some vacumn to the power stroke and assist with that stroke.

Just asking because with CFL at the start of your name reminds me of the Canadian Football League "CFL", the Lions are in the CFL.

I know this question isn't part of your build thread CFLBob but I'll ask it anyway. Are you a B.C. Lions fan?

Right now it's on hold until I get my Smithy lathe/mill up and running.

Good sliding fit and holds in place when I cover one end with my thumb.

Thanks Norman I'll keep that in mind.

    Scrooge style Milling machine

Thank you Apprentice and Norman. I looked up the George Thomas Staking Tool and to me it looks kind of light duty to use as a milling machine, I'm probably wrong here. It looks like an Arbour, drill press combination which would be more useful and accurate than press fitting pieces in a vise...

The cylinder went well and the head is in the rough stages. I drilled five holes in the head and cylinder and was in the process of tapping the last hole in the cylinder while saying in my head "don't break don't break" of course when I'm almost done the tap breaks off in the hole. Once the...

    Scrooge style Milling machine

Apprentice that looks like a really good conversion and fairly simple too. I'm getting a Skil drill press and I think I will convert that instead of my Canadian tire light duty drill press.

Any pictures of that Ford motor? I can see where the main bearings would keep spindle deflection to a bare minimum. Another bone to chew on. I'm actually looking at possibly getting a EMCO 3 Lathe with milling attachment still waiting for the guy selling to get back to me. What are your thoughts...

Finished learning how to cut that particular cylinder a lesson I hope I don't forget before I discover a new way to botch things up. One thing that is essential for an El Cheapo milling machine is a good set of files as you can see from the last picture. So far this looks good, I'll keep you...

Milling the valve face on the cylinder. I am learning just what my El Cheapo milling machine can do. First lesson do not place work in a vice that will allow the work to roll or tip, hence the awful first cuts. 2. Have an accurate way to measure how deep your cuts are (next thing to fix)...

Found a piece of aluminium that was round and drilled out to 5/8 of and inch I then finished the bore till it was shiny. I started machining the fins on the cylinder next. Because I didn't have a centre point big enough for the bore I couldn't use mine, the cutting bit grabbed and pushed the...

    Anthony Davies Fire Eater Engine

I have started a build by the name you see above. I already attempted something like this based on his plans but as usual I thought I had a better idea and it didn't turn out. I will say one thing for that build was it did turn over a couple of times on it's own but the valve system I made would...

Be Gentle it's my first time

I soldered the one wrist pin so it wouldn't hang up on the coin then spun and spun it till it felt loose. It was looking hopeful until I realised the set screw had backed off some so I Locktited it in place. I once again got it turning free so I thought lets try it. Set up a little stand over a...

Be Gentle it's my first time

I don't think it's so much being hard on myself. It's more like how a coach talks to a team, tells them their bums in the first half and now it's time to go out there and prove themselves. When it comes to being beat by a machine I humble myself, look at the mistakes and then go at it tooth and...

Be Gentle it's my first time

Thanks for all the kind replies! You could consider it a runner if it actually ran, I think it may have assisted me for bits at a time. No I won't bin it but I may curse it from time to time. This actually isn't my first attempt, the other was a Flame Licker engine. It would seize at times but...
