My build of Brian's double scale beam engine

Now that's a very nice looking engine you got happening there Kvom Thm: You've certainly got a good eye ;) Now I can't remember the thread where I read this but it is as I recall a bad idea to run an engine in from the crank side, Un-natural wear on the parts.... I remember reading that it...

    A small boiler

You got to be happy with this one Rich  Aluminium is a bu#'4r without a buffing wheel!! you are best flating it first 800-1000 grit wet n dry with WD type thin oil on it... Some would go finer on the grades too, makes the final polishing easier! Plates that big would give most people...

    Jan Ridder's Pulse Mobile

Hi Kevin, I've had a little time and have been reading about this on Jan's site.... It seems that you are not the only one who had trouble with setting this engine up! I suppose you have read this already? But thought I'd put a link here to help others understand what you are up against...

    A small boiler

Hi Rich, Very neat! 8) Glad to see it all working, I really like the lever and pivot system for the vents... Very easy for me to remember :D No issues with the extra nuts on the front... They are needed so they must be there ;) Not wanting to sound pushy or such like, just a question...

    final polish

French caulk!!! From our British cliffs!!!! Does HM's customs know the blighters are nicking it??? :big: It certainly is fine... softer than any talc I've ever felt. I cheat a little .... I put some on the final buffing mop... No soap at all and use it for the final buff..... it seems to...

    final polish

I'm not 100% on that answer Gary, it is just what I was told to use and it can with my polishing kit... The instructions in there say to use it too. Here is a link, dragged off E-blag and put here. No idea if it's cheap or whatever but it shows the stuff I'm talking about. ;D...

    rude people

I've been reading quite a few of the 'issue' posts myself.... I read some from a few months ago before they were deleted... these were my main reason for being quiet for so long....(yer I know, you didn't notice!) It just wasn't the forum I became a member of, so I kinda went elsewhere for a...

    final polish

Aww... you gets around!! ;D (private ish joke!) Still... personally I think solvent type clean and then reassess... possible too much 'soap' (polish) on the mop.. or the wrong type? Should be non greasy and non cutting type of polish last. also very little on the mop and probable use of...
