Why is it that none of my various phillips screwdrivers fit that small phillips screw that is very tight in it's hole? Is there a standard for the angle of the tip of these drivers? I have some Snapon, Wiha, and other high quality drivers, none of which will properly fit into the head of some...

    Model Shock Absorbers

I need to make a pair of shock absorbers for my model airplane, and wonder if there are any ideas or plans out there. They do not need to be hydraulic, only sprung. They are for a large Pilatus Porter weighing about 7 lbs. and are about 1/4 -5/16" OD. Ideas?

    Machining Delrin

I am milling some black delrin pieces and am experiencing growth of the part after machining. That is to say, the holes I mill and drill are smaller that the tool that cuts them. Is this due to spring back of the material, or does it grow afterwards?

In today's paper: ..."physicists have made their own purified form of copper underground-some of the purist on the planet-and built an underground machine shop to make parts with the copper." This is 1 mile below ground in an abandoned gold mine in South Dakota. They are looking for light rays...

    Tapping Head- making one??

Is it possible (for a novice like me) to make a tapping device for tiny taps..something with a clutch to prevent breaking small taps? I can't afford a Procunier or Tapmatic, at least at the prices I see. I now use a spring-loaded holder in the drill press or mill. Still able to break them.

    Metal for Valve Cages

I am making new valve cages for my Silver Bullet, that are now Drill Rod. Would cast iron be a good choice? This would enable some nice valve seats, I hope.

    Broken Tap Removal

I have a broken off a 2-56 tap in an aluminum head that I want to try removing with alum. If I immerse only the part of the head where the tap is in the alum solution, and keep the rest of the head (with the valve cages) above the surface, will this allow me to get only the tap to dissolve?
