Yet an other build of Joreon Jorkman stirling 60

Hello RonP, dad built this engine almiost to the drawings. The trick with engines built around test tubes is to get the tube BEFORE starting to build the parts that fit with them. There are multiple brands / models of tubes so better get them beforehand and measure them exactly before cutting...

Yet an other build of Joreon Jorkman stirling 60

Hello John, the box is tight enough to hold the base quite well. However, daddy used some heavy weight foam custom cut to make a packing insert (which does not show on the picture, sorry) to make sure that it does not bang. I probably would not ship it through mail overseas .... but it is...

NEMES show (Vermont) air supply question

Hello all, thanks for the quick answers. Sorry for the confusion I introduced :( In fact, this show is indeed held by the American Precision Museum. I thought it was sponsored by NEMES since this is part of their agenda of coming events and they advertised it in the past. Cheers

NEMES show (Vermont) air supply question

Hello, does anybody know what type of connection is available for compressed air in stands? I am planning to have steam engines on display running on air but am wandering what type of hose and connector to bring in order to hook up to the main line. If one could get me details, it would be...

    Model engineering show, Windsor Vermont

Hello Joe, went there couple years ago and it was fun. It is a relatively small show but interesting engines to see. Ambience is very very friendly and there is a lot of room to move around the show. There is also the museum to be seen, small but interesting to see one of the first machine...

    Canadian members

BAH101, when you come back in Canada, what do you answer to the custom agent whe (s)he asks "do you have someting to declare" ? In other words, do you declare your purchase or not? If so, do they bother you with taxes and duties? As per the law, you need to leave the country over 24h to be...

Canadian buyers beware, they do ship to Canada BUT in order to use a credit card for payment, you need to have almost a US Bank «edition» of Visa or Master. Otherwise, they wont be able to electronicaly verify your billing address and won't accept your credit card. The only options left are...

    kimble rotary valve engine

Hello all, has anyone here ever given a try at making the Elmer's Rotary Valve engine a.k.a the Kimble engine? There are two articles about that engine on http://www.john-tom.com/html/ElmersEngines.html , number 20 and 21 but these two articles seem to be missing some information like the links...

Time to visit your local scrap yard

Hey Rick, which one of the two is most succesful in getting yourself in 1) your visit to the owner's wife :big: 2) the beer? Reading your lines makes us wander what kind of visit you are having ;D Just kidding you! Cheers Denis

    found this

Indeed very simple design. Very unusual to have drawings with tolerances in our « business », might be interesting for beginners IF they are set properly as it tells you where you need to emphasize and where you can loosen up if you messed. Very similar to this one but with a glow plug instead...

    Howell's Vintage stirling

Thanks guys for the kind word, I am glad to be part of this community. It feels good to get your comments as sometimes we shoot for perfection (as we see in some posts here) and that seems to always be out of reach. I think I'll stay in the hobby and keep learning! Cheers Denis

    Horizontal Hit and Miss

Hi guys, here are a few shots of my Horizontal Hit and Miss that has been cooking for the past ... 3 years at least (so long that I lost when it started) It has been put aside many time to move other projects forward. It is a design from David Kerzel , FL which was available for download at...

    Howell's Vintage stirling

I saw that Jerry has designed one but have never seen the internals. Isn't it a bearing for the impeller as well ? How do we seal the bearing then to prevent water from getting in?

    Ignore this topic

Here it is , the water pump . The original design is from the Model Engine Builder magazine from a few months ago. I scaled it down to get a proper size. The bolts are 0-80 and the impeller is brass, 1 in dia. As in any small things, sealing is a problem! For the fromt cover, I used a large...

For a second build: compression Ignition

Hi Cliff, anodyzing can be a fairly simple process if you want or rather very expensive one if you buy all the chemicals. The « El Cheapo » in me brought me to give it a try with a very basic setup. 8 $ 10 x 16 x 8 RubberMaid plastic bin with lid from Walmart 5 $ worth of BRAND NEW car...

    Howell's Vintage stirling

Here are some pictures of my first Stirling experience. I bought some plans for my Dad last Chrstmas and these were from late Jerry Howell. It turned out that my Dad whom does not have a lot of machinery, feared to give them a try. I then decided that it would be a shame to have bought them...
