Webster Engine re-design & (hopefully) build:

Nice job on the redesign. I to was thinking of ways to simplify the design. I am working on a version that eliminates the points. I noticed that on gas weed eaters and other small gas appliences that they do not usually use points. They "time" the engine with the coil to Flywheel magnet...

I did not have too much luck with this circuit. The readings seamed to be all over the place, I could not get consistant results. IronHorse

    Pot-Bellied Backyard Stirling Engine

Well I woke up one day late last year yearning to build a “whacky engine”. You know the kind; Large, made from reclaimed parts, lots of pipes and spinning things and no bling. I started with the Moriya engine plans. I like this design because you can scale it up or down and it always works...

Nice job, the carbon fiber is a nice modern touch. I built one of those a couple of years ago and it is one of my nicest runners. IronHorse

    A "Poppin" for Christmas

AG.......I was lucky and scored some hi-grade graphite rod (1.125") from a friend of mine who has a EDM shop. He said it cost $100 a foot! but I think you can use a lower grade. I remember looking a few years ago on the net and I could buy standard grade for about $15 a foot

    A "Poppin" for Christmas

The Poppin is such a good design. I built mine a few years ago and I run it weekly. It is so nice to just light the wick, and off it goes. Originally I built mine with an aluminum piston in an aluminum cylinder. It ran OK, but needed a pre-warm on the cylinder. Recently I remade the piston in...

    Milling machine belt drive plans

You don't have to worry too much about the sound the mill makes, thats the way they sound new! I was worried about the plastic gears and the racket, but mine has worked great for 5 years now. I will make the change to belt drive when the gears finally give it up. IronHorse

Power Hack Saw Flee Market Find

Great idea Swifty, I was wondering how to use the rest of the blade. Tin...Does not shake too much, stays put, but I would not leave the room:eek: I was looking aroung the internet and there seams to be more of a selection if I used 12" blades. I could cut to length, but how could i "drill"...

Power Hack Saw Flee Market Find

It was a some what rainy day up at the Burls Creek Automotive Flee Market on Friday, but I did make a nice score. I found this 1981 D-M Tools DMH-80 portable hack saw, and I ended up getting it for $40. It is a nice simple design, a geared motor turns a circuler crank...

    Rudy Kouhoupt's Stirling

Great job on getting your engine to run, I know these engines can sometines be hard to keep running. I had a problem with my Alpha engine, and only got it to run after putting it on the shelf for a few months while I thought of ways to fix it. A few tweeks later, I had a runner:o You can see...
