"that's not a shaper, THIS is a shaper!"

lost patience with watching this mans finger press buttons. But the largest shapers were (are?) the ones built as side shapers where the arm slides on rails on the wall of the building, and the beds(s) are mounted on the floor. The stoke can be many 10k of millimeters.

    My "new old" lathe

If one has the room for this size lathe its a superb choice! And one can luck into many bargains since few can house them. This kind of behemoth can be used for proper milling in model engineer sizes too!

Another Reason to buy or make a diamond tool holder

    Tool Grinding Rest

Safety is FIRSTS in a workshop, but I know grinding wheels are damn strong. Once witnessed a rather brainless man work a manual surface grinder, this man was obviously full of steroids (had all the physical signs) and very proud of the arms he build in the gym. Had to show us girly men how fast...

    Harbor Freight Lathes and Mills?

I disagree, lathe first is not the obvious choice! It depends on what u want to do; a gunsmith uses the mill far more than the lathe for example, and small things can be turned on a mill. A small lathe is a pig to do any milling in also. Only experience can make a good choice, a Catch 22...

    New type of tool holder.

Good thing about them is that they are indexable. If one made a tool to set it at the same height every time, one could take it out ot the holder and sharpen it, then get it back exactly right each time! Ive got to get one! Anyone tried them on Sherline or other compacts? Seems one can reach...

    How they do that???

Im trained as a gunsmith, theres lots of need for timing treads in gunwork; like when u thread on on a barrel for example. All you need too know if the pitch of the thread to do the math, as the article explains! One thing that ruins your day is when u overtighten a screw thats part of an...

    Are the cams days numbered?

Read in a reputable car magazine in waiting room not long ago about a company here in Sweden that worked on a camless engine, it also had adjustable compression ratio, very high tech, and seemed far developed...but I don thave the article anymore for obvious reasons...It was a SAAB owned company...
