    AL320 Lathe Mods + Rebuild

So, using Rollie's Dad's Method, a pdf I found here Starting out, I'm using a aluminium roller from a scrapped photocopier (CNC parts, and springs!.. lots of springs) the roller is made to high tolerances and smoothness. My 3 jaw chuck however, is China's 'finest' (came with the lathe)...

    AL320 Lathe Mods + Rebuild

    AL320 Lathe Mods + Rebuild

Any metal filings coming from gears meshing etc will eventually find its way to the magnet and stay there, avoiding the bearings Same as finding detergent free gear oil - the detergent traps foreign objects and gunk in the oil (normally to head for the filter) detergent free oil lets it...

    AL320 Lathe Mods + Rebuild

So, I didn't take a while heap of photos during the rebuild, but I'll show you what I got... or found... Tearing it down... Shortly after buying it, i opened the gear case to check if I was the proud owner of Chinese foundry sand mixed with oil... nothing major found, it was reasonably...

    AL320 Lathe Mods + Rebuild

Hi all, I have finished rebuilding my AL320 lathe and found many 'chinese' issues along the way, so I thought I would provide some info about it. Seeing as this forum is the only place I found any worthwhile AL320 information and other people who own one. First, the end result... before it...

    AL-320 Lathe DRO Upgrade

Thanks rodw  I have found my method to handle rotation twist very well, as it is only pivoting between one bolt per jaw, and to be honest I only notice it when the quill retracts just beyond flush as the jaws close and there is still 0.1/0.2mm more to retract, you see the whole caliper...

    AL-320 Lathe DRO Upgrade

Old Post but thought I should add my AL320 mods... My version of a Digital Caliper install, TIG welded a m5 bolt shank onto the front face of the tailstock quill so it can retract fully and eject non-tang tapers. Made an angle shelf and bolted each jaw solid, works brilliant. Did this before...

Tips for Arduno software for Rotary Table Controllers

I already have home position setup and looping from 359 back to 0. I like your arc mins and secs implementation and miraculously 1 sec equals 24 full steps for me so implementing it will be easy. I was really stuck for a while and wanted to suit your sketch to my hardware, but as your lcd...

Tips for Arduno software for Rotary Table Controllers

yep :fan: My coding was basic back then too, I got the hang of it but it was only an intro module first year and then a basics module the next. I was never a developer, I went to IT support... until I became an engineer 10 yrs ago that is. Not using graphics as such, but highlighting menu...

Tips for Arduno software for Rotary Table Controllers

Hi Rod (hi everyone else also) I have too been developing an arduino controller like so many others, and thought I was doing really good :D... I ironed out a lot of issues and rounding errors, I been doing really well, then I stumbled across your code... :o and mine is no way as efficient...
