Offenhauser Inline 4 cylinder, Might Midget Model Engine Build

Anyone interested in these type engines, there is an excellent multipart interview, on youtube, with Prof. Steve Truchan. It covers bits and pieces of the history of Miller, Offenhouser and Myer Drake. Prof. Truchan overhauls and restores these engines, old Indy cars, etc. Here's the link...

    LibreCAD

Is anyone using 'Carbide Create 3D' ? If so, any comments about your experiences would be appreciated. I'm using it for small aluminum and brass parts on my TAIG and really like it. I came from Fusion 360 where the learning curve was just too steep.

Lemelman, Thanks for the answer, I'll be on the lookout for it since it's been about a year now. Tom

    Fusion 360 for a beginner

That's one of my complaints about F-360....there are tons of videos on you tube but most of them concern older versions of the software. I don't have a suggestion on how to resolve it. John....I also had the same problem yesterday when I opened the program to use it....a new version seemed...

    Fusion 360 for a beginner

Davidyat............. Here's the program you want by Paul McWhorter. Learn Fusion 360 or Die Trying LESSON 1: Introduction ... I'm only a hobbyist and was at the same place you are and for many weeks watched all kinds of youtube instructional videos, including 'TinkerCAD', until I found...

    Transitional Engine

Soldering doesn't have the strength for this application. I'd suggest TIG as opposed to other kinds of welding, since it has more concentrated heat (less warpage). Tom

    Fusion 360 learning ?s

Here's another tid-bit for those looking for basic CAD software. I started out, and still use, 'TinkerCAD'. For some reason I always revert back to this program when my brain needs a rest from Fusion 360. Tom

    Fusion 360 learning ?s

----------------------------------- lemelman, I second your statement ...." I've found that the very best way of learning is to have a specific personal project to do." It sure works wonders for me too.

    Fusion 360 learning ?s

Yes Jack, I knew that but, for some reason, I seem to always look around for new programs :) Also, one thing I neglected to mention about CAMBAM is that it's not free. As of this date, after the trial period, it's about $150 so I've ruled it out since I'm just a hobbyist trying to keep my...

    Fusion 360 learning ?s

I also found Lars' videos to be too fast for my pea brain, so I settled on Phil McWharter's series on YouTube called, IIRC, "Fusion 360 or die trying". His 'basic' lessons were what got me over the initial learning curve. So now I use Sketchup and Fusion 360 (free), I used them both for 3D...
