Can someone point me to a flashlight that will throw a pretty good spot at roughly 400 feet away?
Or a mod to an old style maglight, the one with the button to turn it on, that will produce what I'm looking for.
Thanks
I'm running a DTM 100 series (AXA size) wedge type. By far the best upgrade I did so far.
There are several brands of this style post that are very affordable. You can see it in the tailstock pic I posted.
It looks to me like you have the LA-195 on the spindle now and it is backwards. I would take 2 putty knives, 1 on each side and carefully work it back off the spindle, it should slide off easy if you don't cock it. Install LA-194 and check for binding. Then install LA-195.
That is how mine is...
That's going to be a nice machine. I have a Logan 820 and I really like it.
I can't tell for sure but it looks like the spindle bearing retainer is missing on yours. The one right behind the chuck, if so you will have to get one along with the metal shield for the bearing.
Yeah, I found that too but it's not matching anything I have on this motor.
I'm thinking I need to split the coil wiring inside of it to make it happen?
Thanks
I'm trying to reverse a Fasco PSC motor with a start/run capacitor. If I remove the cap I can spin start it in either direction but I want to hook it to a drum switch rather than spin starting it. Can anyone shed some light on how I would go about this?
This is a 110v 1 phase motor with 4...
Thanks Stan
I ended up having what I needed for the gearing in a box that came with it.
I wish I did have the countershaft! This motor is a 1 1/2 hp dc variable drive but I can tell it won't cut the mustard when it comes time to make a heavy cut.
It has plenty of power in backgear when...
Well, it runs and it's a heck of alot more machine than the 7x12 I've been using.
Here's a short vid of it running, I also did some threading on it today.

I kicked around a few colors but it's hard to go wrong with grey.

Mine was built around 1944. What size gear is on your gearbox input? Mine is a 48 but I think I need a 24 for most thread pitches??
Thanks Maryak, I have been lurking here for a long time.
Here is the last pic for today, I mounted a treadmill (aka clothes hanger) motor and test ran it. I can get 2000 rpm out of it as is. I am hoping to find a better solution for a motor since it did not have any of the original motor or...
Thanks guys.
Here is a tag that was on it, I guess it was the dealer that sold it to the first owner.
They are still in business about 25 miles north of me.
I love a good deal when it comes around and I think I got one here. A few weeks ago I put out word that I wanted a lathe and a buddy of mine said his dad had one in the barn and was tired of moving it around. That Friday I went to pick it up, hard to pass up for free.
Anyway, here are a few...
I thought you guys may like this. It belongs to a buddy of mine and he is restoring it. I am trying to track down a clutch setup for him or convert to hystat..
This is another buddy that has one as well.

I'm just getting into the model hobby but have been using an old P&W mill from the 60's that was worn beyond use for other projects.
I just purchased a ZX45 from Wholesale tool and am really happy with it. Wholesale tool has 15% off in store now if you are near one of their locations.
