Be warned, Harbor Freight gloves are dangerous

Dnalot, I hope the healing of your hand is moving quickly. I have a few questions: The burns on your hands, in the pics, indicate the damage to the hand, now you say that the pieces of glove that was placed into the oven work as expected, except the gauntlet. So the question must be asked...

Be warned, Harbor Freight gloves are dangerous

10K Pete, not to beat this horse into the ground. I agree running big units(that you are getting paid to run) requires high end equipment and I am the first to reach for the best protection possible. These gloves from HF are, at the very best marginal, but the question still must be asked. If...

Be warned, Harbor Freight gloves are dangerous

dnalot, sorry, for the injury, but I do not understand the test. You say the tests where done in the oven, were you hands in the gloves at the time of the test? If the interior of the gloves were as you say "sticky" at approx 150F why go higher? You say the finger material is different and held...

    High Speed Steam Engine

Windy, thank you for posting, this is a very interesting hobby. Atlas/Craftsman Lathe questions

Since, you do not how to run the unit I would say stay away. For a few dollars more you can buy a new lathe from Grizzly or any number of suppliers of Chinese lathes. They will come with a warranty and spares can be bought. You will not have to make do due to worn parts and ways. I paid...

How do you store heave acessories?

Hack, When I first read your post I did not read your location. If you have access to a McMaster-Carr and or Grainger Catalog you will find several hydraulic lift tables. If nothing else you can see the lift table designs and build or buy one for yourself. I use a 1500 lbs lift table that was...

1Fitch, You are going to love the new mill. I might suggest checking on E-Bay for some machine mounts. These will isolate and help to level the machine. I bought some pads for my mill and the machine is smooth and level. Good Luck

Gordon, just went to another machine site and it appears that the quill seal is the problem. One person took out the old lube and replaced it with Mobil gear oil, problem has all but gone away.
