    Does your mill use a drill chuck or a collet to hold the end mill. If it is a drill chuck, that may be your problem.

    Don't use grease,that would be bad. Use only oil in the head stock, because there are felt wicks that wick the oil up to the spindle via capillary action. I use spindle oil in mine.I don't use grease of any kind anywhere on the lathe, it will attract and hold chips just where you don't want...

    Hi John, Thank you for the reply. I did use the crank center as my datum, and that point was located from the base and so as to be directly above the reinforcement webbing of the crank saddle. I probably am expecting too much accuracy of the casting. It looks like I might have to 'live with'...
