    Aluminium zylinder coating options wanted

Thank you very much for your detailed answers! I had already thought about 7075, but unfortunately it couldn't be anodized, ans this is important to me. I think I'll go for hard anodizing. I already have a "normal" anodizing equipment in the workshop and I can get the additives for hard...

    Aluminium zylinder coating options wanted

Dear forum, I'm currently thinking about coating options for aluminum cylinders. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to install a cast iron liner? What should definitely work is hard chrome plating. However, this is not something you can do by yourself and requires a professional company. But what...

I am curious, which Ford coils do you use? They run with just 3.7v?

    Zdenek in the Czech Republic

Great work, respect! The glow control looks quite interesting to me. Am I right, that you connect each single glowplug directly to the full Lipo2S voltage and only the short power-on time prevents that its blown away? Awesome!

    Bentley BR2 Question

My Gnome, built from Stephens plans has a quite simmilar rod. The master rod lies on the inside of the ring. The pins I used are DIN 6325 Passstifte (I think the correct translation is "dowel pin"?) No loctite needed. It has ben run about 8 hours is in the last years, without any problems.

    Deals on Alibre

You can run Fusion on a macOS system, thats a *ix like OS. But you are right, I would also be very happy if they would provide Fusion for Linux. But besides that, I love that piece of software.

Selecting a microphone for engine video shooting

Thanks for your reply, Steve. But the issue here is not the speaker, it's the mic. I'm looking for some cable or bluetooth mic which picks up the engine sound more neutrally and does not overdrive as the mobile microphone does. Well, I could buy a new mobile, but that would be overkill. In...

Selecting a microphone for engine video shooting

Hello, I always have problems getting a decent sound when shooting a video of a model engine. My P9 phone isn't the newest, but it fails totally to record a reasonable sound. I'm quite sure that an external microphone would produce a better result. Does anyone have experience in this direction...

    Plans for casting

My first self casted engine was a Felgiebel. See Building the Felgiebel for some pictures. A simple 2 stroke engine, quite easy to build. The book should be still available at ancient book stores.

You rellay used a mixture 1:4? I guess you mean 4% Oil And if it gets tight when it warms up: Check piston-zylinder clearance!

    Anzani Crankcase Venting

Nope, all 3 Cyl. Anzani fan engines have only one single crank pin! The purpose of the holes is to relieve temperature stress from the exhaust valves. The exhaust valve opens only when the top of the piston is at the middle of the top hole row and the most of the hot gases already left through...

    Anzani Crankcase Venting

Thanks for your answers! Well, thats a good point. I see, that at least one of the line of holes is uncovered almost all the time, about 280° crank. Only 40deg before and after BDC they are all closed. I agree, that the those 40 degres starting before BDC until BDC will not create much...

    Anzani Crankcase Venting

I would like to ask if somebody can give me a hint about the inner works of the crank case ventilation of the 3W Anzani. I assume its simple, like the rest of the engine. ;) I guess it hat to vent in both directions, so maybe there is only a piece of felt in it? regards Robert

    Felgiebel 16,6

I never used Borax, but the flux I used from Felder was quite well removable with a 15% sulfuric acid. Heated up to about 30-40°C. Take care, use gloves and glasses!
