    Backyard Casting

If you have no experience with CAD, YouTube can be very helpful. There are some good free CAD programs available too. And if you don't have an interest in learning to make your own designs, there are TONS of .stl's available on sites like thingiverse. The wax filament is something we make...

    Backyard Casting

I don't think I have any detailed pics of his forge or kiln. He bought a used evenheat kiln from a local high school that was upgrading their equipment. I had purchased some stainless steel casting flasks as well as a couple bread pans to hold the ultravest I got from Gesswein. We welded up a...

    Msc

Our orders all seem to come from Chicago, so I checked on their site if they had a TN warehouse out of curiosity. If they do, it's not listed. "Q. Where do you ship from? A. We ship Zoro stocked items out of five warehouses strategically located across the country. More specifically...

    Backyard Casting

I attend an annual car meet. Last year was our first attempt at making some commemorative coins for people to take home. We did coins again this year, but I also threw in a couple random items to cast too. They were 3D printed in a wax filament, then investment cast in brass. This was our...

I've come to like Zoro. They are fairly priced, quick to ship, and because of their shipping location, we basically get overnight shipping for the price of ground. They also offer free shipping for all orders over $50.

    3D printer questions

The temperature can vary greatly between printers too. For instance, I have a spool of PETg that states 260°C, but actually prints better at 240°C on our printer. So that 190, may not be ideal for your particular printer. Here's In this video, he describes a good method for temperature...

    3D printer questions

I find an automotive feeler gauge to be much easier, and more accurate to use for bed leveling than paper.

How do I model a supercharger rotor?

If you look at pictures 6, 8, and 9 in the gallery of this link http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/0610ch-magnuson-superchargers/parts-cost.html it looks like the only function of the back side of the housing is for the boost bypass valve. It looks to me that the air flow goes straight down, from...

How do I model a supercharger rotor?

When you say back of the housing, do you mean the area of the s/c housing that is closest to the distributor when mounted? I would think that the air flow would go straight down, and into the LIM.

How do I model a supercharger rotor?

I have heard them referred as roots blowers over the years, but I looked it up, and this is wrong. They are twin screw. My mistake.

How do I model a supercharger rotor?

Not sure if this helps any, but this is a helpful link for M62, and M90 Eaton superchargers. It has some dimensions, and twist angles. http://www.3800supercharger.net/ I can's seem to find it, but I know the guy who made that site has also made a cad animation of the basic function of the...

    Machinable wax

Some minor progress from yesterday. Had a go at the STL of the recent NASA wrench scaled down to about 30mm. I am going to try it again today with a finer resolution, and larger scale.

    Machinable wax

We are still testing. Previously with just small 1-2 foot strands. We made a spool to trial later today. I am excited to see how it does with larger prints. The small clip that was first printed was a 150 micron resolution. At least the setting on the printer was. The wax extrudes at a...

    Machinable wax

Are you by chance the gentleman that has the video with the Yoda head key chains casting with a tree technique? What is pictured above is a blend similar to what we sell for our machinable wax blends. I can't say exactly what it is, other than a synthetic wax. The burnout would be...

    Machinable wax

Just proving the concept for the first time yesterday, but wax can be printed too.

Not an engine, but a project I expect some will appreciate

Nice work! Neat project. What was the ATF determination of what this classifies. Did it pass as a pistol, or did they make you do AoW/SBR? http://www.weaponeer.net/ A little slow on traffic, but there are plenty of friendly, skilled, and knowledgeable gunsmiths there.

    .019 music wire

Good point. I didn't realize I linked a wound set. I agree, not very suitable to make a spring. I searched that same site for ".019" and saw a few more options. http://search.juststrings.com/search?catalog=juststrings&query=.019&x=0&y=0
