    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

Thank you Dave, believe it or not, I already downloaded that plan a couple of days ago after watching the you tube video. It’s really interesting but for the next project I’m uncertain between this twin cylinder and a beam engine.

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

Here it is! It runs, Here is the video but I’ m not entusiasthic. It doesn’t runs smoothly, there’s a little vibration at some point. I think it’s caused by the crankshaft wobbling, when I press fitted the two pieces something went wrong and I ruined it. Anyway it runs and I won’t work on...

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

After a few days of stop today I went back to work on the scotty and I finished all the parts of the engine. I connected it to the compressed air line and it runs. 👍🏻 Now it’s time to make a little polishing work and prepare it for the camera.

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

Wow Joahn, it looks really good, thanks for sharing. Nice polishing work! Mine it’s almost finished, I have just to machine the yoke. Here some pics of the piston and bushing being machined.

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

The build continues slowly but costantly. I made a couple of new little pieces. Since I had little time to spend in the workshop I decided to machine the simplest parts like the piston rod, the bracket and the tiny slide block. I prepared also the blank piece of brass for the piston and I’ ve...

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

I went back to the workshop today and I made some steps forward: once finished the frame and the cylinder I made the flywheel and the crankshaft from a bar stock of Ss.

Good start. I’ll be watching. 👍🏻

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

Today I worked on the frame to get the final shape and squared the cylinder. I machined the brass bolts to adapt them to the shape I need. Here you can see the difference. I don’t have an edge finder and in the previous project I got the right spacing between the holes but they were...

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

New year new project. I started to build the Elmer’s Verburg #8 scotty. It’s very similar to the other two engines that I’ve built but this time I will approach the project in a different way due to some little issues I had in the other projects. This time I started from the wooden display...

    Elmer’s #16 “baldy”

Thanks, for the next project I was thinking to another Elmer’s engine, very similar to this one: the scotty #8. I know it’s a little bit boring for you to watch that kind of little simple engines but I love the Elmer’s engines precisely because they’re simple, not too much material and tools are...

Polishing done. I don’t want a mirror surface so I think it’s enough. The wooden base will be made out of a piece of olive root.

    Elmer’s #16 “baldy”

It’s alive! After making some machining on a set of brass bolts, that I recently bought, to make them fit I reamed to 10 mm and lapped the bore of the cylinder. The piston sphere went out to be 10,02 mm so I sanded and polished it to fit exactly the required size. All the parts are made now and...
