    Canned air is extremely explosive...

    As you said, 3,5 = 3.5 mm. Don´t forget that threads are metric: M2 is metric (60° thread angle), 2 mm. step.

    thread forming using a screw, instead of taps in aluminum.

    Well, the lack of conicity when you use screw instead of tap could result in misalignement of the thread. I think about it as a last option, and always consider better wait for the monday and buy the proper tool!. :-)

    Starting over

    Hi!, I´m glad to have found this site!. I am a 51 years old engineer and I have saved and restored an old (mine) lathe. It is a pretty long tale, the short version is: I am choosing an easy project for fun and to share time with my son. No doubt I will meet some interesting people over here!.
