    On your second point, my cylinder is square but the design allows for lagging which makes the outward view cylindrical. Andy

    How slowly is mostly going to depend upon how well you machine the various parts and the tolerances you hold. Frankly I didn't worry about it too much but my engine will definitely rock slowly enough to clearly show off the linkage motion.

    One of Guy Lautard's Bedside Readers discusses Turner's Cubes in detail including how to calculate the various undercuts, how to build a fixture to hold the cubes in a lathe, etc. I've turned a number based on his suggestions. The books are great for any number of reasons.
