    3D printed sand molds

You are expending way too much effort expounding on something that's off topic and doing it uninformed. The topic is specifically about 3d sand mold printing.

    3D printed sand molds

    1. This process is highly accurate. 2. I think you're talking about standard 3d printing like with PVC or sintered metal. That is not what this is. We're talking about printing a foundry mold from sand.

    3D printed sand molds

I wonder if a person couldn't manually make a 3d printed sand mold? Create the model with sprue and gates etc., divide it into layers and have stencils cut. Deposit the sand by hand and use the stencils to expose the areas that need curing. It would be time consuming and take forever but if...

    3D printed sand molds

I don't have a wife and building the system to print molds is not a project I want to tackle. I estimate it takes them maybe 20 minutes of actual physical hands on effort, the machine does all the real work. They load up a model, create the sprue, gates and hit the start button. If all...

    3D printed sand molds

I just got an estimate on a mold for a tool post grinder I want to make. $1000 to 3d print the mold. If I make the form and send it to the foundry and they hand make the mold and cast it in iron; less than $100. How they justify charging ten times the amount for something a computer does for...

    3D printed sand molds

I saw this on YouTube the other day and was wondering how feasible it would be to build one of these in the shop? It's a long trough sand dispenser that lays down a thin layer of sand, I'm assuming it's coated or mixed with something, and a printer head cures that layers parts. Has anyone...

WTB qc gearbox for 9" south Bend lathe

Lol. I'm planning on machining my lead screw, probably make the free end long enough to hold a hand for hand turning the screw.

WTB qc gearbox for 9" south Bend lathe

I want the screw to be steel, not lead.

WTB qc gearbox for 9" south Bend lathe

I want to upgrade my lathe. I'm tired of changing gears.

building a modified brooks cutter grinder

Does anyone know how many issues the plans are broken up into? The first part mentions that next it will finish it but it doesn't say that it would all be in the next issue.

    That was my thinking exactly.

building a modified brooks cutter grinder

I'm confident with my abilities to do this on the mill but, what about self aligning linear bearings? They are mounted in a ball joint housing.

building a modified brooks cutter grinder

A quorn would be nice but the castings are expensive.

building a modified brooks cutter grinder

A full set of plans will be a start. I don't see why boring the holes on a mill wouldn't work.

building a modified brooks cutter grinder

I want to build a tool grinder and I have some question. Pictured is the first issue that these plans started on. I want to have a full set of plans but I'd have to buy 4 back issues (boohoo) and I'm not even sure they have all the issues. If I could find someone with those plans it would be...

    Dissolving different metals

    That would work I think.

    Dissolving different metals

Yes the aluminum left over would take on a lace appearance. But it's just a theoretical exercise at this point. It would be very similar to the ice candles I made when I was a hippy
