Thoughts on a Shizuoka Model AN-S

I’m in the same bot there. I just got excited about all the tool holders. Both of these machines have original controls. I think the an-s is the way to go.

Thoughts on a Shizuoka Model AN-S

Muzzle!! Thank you very much for your knowledge!! I did make it down to see the guy Saturday. Ended up almost hanging out chatting for an hour. Everything from cnc, trucks, work, to off roading. He, like you is using an acorn. After looking at his setup it truly looks like the way to go to...

    Another PeeWee

When it dies, does it bog down till it dies or just shuts off? You wouldn’t happen to have $3000 in thermal imaging gear to observe temperature distraction would you? Do the intakes on these get that hot? They make stuff called “Canned Air” if turned upside down and sprayed thing can get...

How long must it cool before it starts again? When it dies, does it turn over freely? GJ

Thoughts on a Shizuoka Model AN-S

Thank you Jason. That fella has a lot of projects goin on. Even at $2000, I would say money would be better spent on one of these vs an x2 or x3 to convert. If a guy has room for it... I’m trying to get things together to go look at it next weekend. GJ

Thoughts on a Shizuoka Model AN-S

Good day all, I’ve been working to get my shop set up for what feels like years now and now that I’m getting closer I am giving this mill more thought. I talked to the seller months ago and have a fair understanding of the shape of the machine. At the time I was just getting started on my shop...

    Inline 4 engine

This is on my list of things to build with the exception of mine being full size. First the motor, then the trans, then the bike. However, many more “urgent” projects first. If you do build this please let us follow along. GJ

LMS Sieg SC4 Popping My Ground Fault Interrupter

Is there a reason for that circuit to be gfi in the first place? Maybe it’s code? I’ve always lived in the country or in a town without codes so you could rig about anything you wanted. Do you have any other gfi circuits that you could swap the two new gfi’s into? I guess if it’s only your...

LMS Sieg SC4 Popping My Ground Fault Interrupter

As a guy who has had gfi issues before (kitchen related) and seams to be a believer in doing the hard stuff first, check grounds. As a guess this issue started as soon as the lathe was bought and likely that circuit not used very much prior? As a thought, garbage disposals and refrigerators...

    Any other Burgher's out there?

    Using supports

The last week I have been playing with ABS from 3dsolutec. Using the cheep knock off slicer that came with my printer I have been very pleased with the surface finish after doing an acetone vaper finish. Doesn't help you currently but might be something to consider.

The story of a Kansas boys shop/toolroom/house.

Wow.. what a crazy month and a half it has been. So very unexpected twists have come up on this road I've been taking. So! As an update on the building.... it's basically done. Sheetrock should be mudded and finish s handed Friday. I am taking Monday and Tuesday off to make sure painting gets...

The story of a Kansas boys shop/toolroom/house.

In one week I went from having a bunch of random looking posts in the ground to having a building. Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday were spent lay foam and the pex for the slab to be pored. (My self) Monday the crew worked on grading the main shop area, and getting headers and stringers put...

    E-Z Build and request

Good looking little engine. I'm sure others can comment but I think the first build holds a special place in everyone's heart no matter how simple. As for next, if you want to do a double acting, go for it! I built one out of a book called "Working air engines and more". I can't remember the...

The story of a Kansas boys shop/toolroom/house.

Wizard, I have grown up in a shop with nothing bolted down. our vice was on an old truck rim so i could be easily moved. Our welding table is 4x6 3/8" plate with 5 1/2" casing for legs and a tray under it for storing grinders, pipe wrenches and other tools, i would guess it weighs over 500...
