    My first engine Stirling 60

I had considered the heat. The temperature of 180F relates to keeping the materials mechanical properties, it's melting point is a bit higher. I also figure air should be circulating around the engine keeping temperatures down, I'll give it a go and see what happens. It's a good point though.

    My first engine Stirling 60

Hi guys. A little more progress. I made the bases. In the original plans they are made from wood, I'm taking a different direction. I'll wait until the engine is assembled to show you, this is mainly because it might look rubbish and I'll have to change it! I've also made the displacers. I've...

    Converting dfx files to. nc

Sorry, should have explained myself better. Can't remember what the software is that I downloaded and don't have it here at home. It's for an art project. Converts a jpeg into G-code. It generates tool paths and depths of cuts and produces the G-code. My last program is 9000 lines long! I can...

    Converting dfx files to. nc

Hi all Hoping for some help, I've got a little project on the go. Downloaded some free software to generate tool paths but it can only write in dxf format. Problem is my Haas VF3 only seems to be able to read .nc files. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Mazak integrex i-300S

What do you need the g-code for? If you've using the Mazak stick with the conversational programming. I've got an old Mazak SQ25T, you can insert g-code but so much easier with the conversational program.

    Milling 101

Just to add a little confusion..... I quite often use climb milling with various materials, If i get excess vibration or a bad finish I use clmb milling and quite often this will cure the problem. I must add that my milling machines are very rigid and heavy (a couple of tons), I quess this...

    My first engine Stirling 60

Managed to get a free hour or two so got back to the engine. I've finished the platform pillars, they just needed facing off to length and a 3.3mm hole drilled. I tapped them M4 by hand. I would normally do the tapping on the machine but I've had a nightmare job this week with deep hole M3 taps...

    Boring Problem

Make the corner posts seperate from the base. Finish the bores to the correct size. Insert a rod through the bores to align them. Then you can weld them to the base. If you do not want to weld them screw thru from the base.

This is from my VF3 it should be the same as the VF2. The tank with oil in on the right with gauge next to it is for the slideway oil, the gauge on the left is the regulator for incoming air from a compressor. Is it any of these?

    My first engine Stirling 60

A bit of progress. Bearings arrived, they are on the small side! Decided to do the main cylinder. For the tuning I used our Mazak SQT lathe, it has conversational programming which is great to use and very quick. After creating the program you can check the shape and tool paths before...

Sounds like the take off for the slide-way lubricant. I'll have a look a mine later to see if I can some more.
