IC airplane engine to steam engine?

I have a pile of old airplane engines, from small to large. They seem to be begging to become steam engines. Has anyone here done this or seen it done? I need ideas on where to start.

A Life Well Spent, but not nearly over......

If you don't ask, you will never know. The worst she can say is no, and she may be thrilled to find someone to help her sort out the shop. DO IT!

    Tiny engines...

Les will send you the plans for the little single cylinder engine if you ask.

Steam Engine build from bits and pieces.

Bravo Tony! What a beautiful machine. Every machine should include Spam somewhere. A nice mine dewatering pump would be an interesting build.

Unimat SL1000 Lathe Modifications and Improvements

Nice work! I'll be appropriating some of your ideas. I'm working on a mill post similar to yours. I just got the bed casting to use, yesterday. I have a chunk of 304 stainless that will become the column I hope. I'm still trying to snag a reasonably priced headstock or complete lathe off of ebay...

I received the 'what are you up to?' email

So, an update. My back surgery (almost a year ago now) went well and I'm fairly able bodied again. Right now I'm in the middle of a room addition to the house so I'll have space to devote to hobbies INSIDE the house now. When the new room is finished, I hope to get my little Unimat machines set...

Incredible Vintage Machinery and Steam Engine Photos

Wonderful pics, thanks for saving them! In the late '60s I discovered a large stash of lantern slides (those glass plates) of the Panama Canal being built. At the time we were unable to copy them and I don't know what happened to them afterwards. Sad to lose those pictures.

    V-twin plans?

Thanks. I'll study that one. I did find a sort of plan sheet for a VSE twin wobbler. A New Zealand design.

    Bottle Engine update

It is a beautiful start. It will be a shame to see it in the sitting room with a lampshade on it however. ;)

    V-twin plans?

I've searched all over for info on a small v-twin steam engine. I've found pics of wobbler and non wobblers, but no details on building one. Could someone point me to a set of plans or a documented build?

    Electric furnace

Excellent choice I think. I have a small Paragon glass kiln that serves for all kinds of work from heat treating to melting. The kilns are very versatile.
