    Hello from New Brunswick, Canada

Hi from Alberta. Welcome to the forum, I think you’ll find it a great place for inspiration and help with frustration. New Brunswick. Damn now I’m craving a good clam boil . . . . . and its winter . . . . and I’m 4000km away.

    Software in the cloud

Gordon I started out with a copy Generic CAD that came on 5 ¼ inch disks then upgraded to Gen CAD 6. When I bought a copy of Via CAD I think it took me about a year before I finally stopped using Gen CAD completely. It was a steep learning curve and I kept running into situations where I’d start...

    Old School Sawmill Edger

Very cool assembly (again) Brian. You’ve inspired me to give it a try and make my own gear reducer for a sand muller I’ve been thinking of building. If nothing else I guess I have 3 months of winter to play with the idea.

    Foot Switch

My printer is DIY so it came with NO manual and NO tech support. Hence I keep notes. https://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/threads/3d-printer-build.30991/ I went through a good chunk of the 10m sample of PETG I bought getting things dialed in but the stuff is very durable and wear...

    Foot Switch

“hours?” I found the adapter on Thingiverse and thought it was a cool idea. Copy, paste, slice, print, done. Granted a flashlight can be replaced by a table lamp but when I already have supply, multimeter, scope, freq counter, function gen etc. probes running all over the bench the last thing I...

    Try searching 22mm switch bezel

    Foot Switch

The place I get my filament from has 10m sample packets for $2.69 CAD. Great for when I want to try something without having to commit to buying an entire spool. PETG can get very stringy so ramp up the retraction and doesn’t work well with supports as EVERYTHING sticks. The way I work around it...

    Foot Switch

Cogsy, I’m not sure but I think that’s about the same return as I get on my savings, after the banks service charges.

    22 mm push buttons

Hi Gordon Just did a search on 7/8” lock washer (22.22mm) and it came up with dozens, I got similar results with a 22.22mm search.

    Foot Switch

I have (had) a foot switch that I don’t use often but I do like it if I’m using my little tankless compressor with my airbrush. The other day after using it when I unplugged the compressor it shattered like glass and the socket pulled right out of the base. When I took it apart I noticed a crack...

    Werowance builds a webster

Werowance great stuff and welcome to the “holy crap I made a gas engine . . . and IT RUNS!” club.

    Epoxy Syringe

I can’t remember exactly when it was that a marketing guy decided that the average consumer wasn’t smart enough to squeeze out equal amounts of epoxy from two separate tubes so they started packaging it in the dual syringe style that in some cases is all that’s available. The idea was...

    3D Printer Build

Just an update on the printer. I think I found the problem I was having with keeping the bed level. I noticed that the loops and brim on the prints where thin to the point of being transparent. Parts where sticking to the bed so hard that I had to use a lot of force to break them free...

    3D Printer Build

XT, Don I think I have my post nozzle drip settled. Part of the problem was I’d been poking around with the “end” G-code and inadvertently deleted the M104 command to turn off the nozzle at the end of the print. Also I’d calibrated the extruder but I hadn’t checked the filament and my 1.75mm...

    Using supports

Hi Chuck your case looks similar to the one Olsson (billanygard) posted for his controller back in the “Arduino Rotary Table for Dummies”. I haven’t messed around with supports (yet) but if you drop him a PM he would probably be able to help you out.

    3D Printer Build

Hi Don. Nope this wasn’t caused by a Slic3r glitch it was a definite Bob glitch. Bingo XT it was driver current. A lot of this thing is made up of bits and pieces I had around including the stepper motors. I’d pre-set the stepper drivers and in the process of building it and tearing it down I’d...

    3D Printer Build

I got one of those personalized ”recommendations for you” e-mails a while back from Amazon that had some PLA cheap ($9.00 for a 1 lb. spool). I knew I was going to need some and probably use most of it just getting this thing calibrated so I clicked on the link, read the reviews, and ordered it...

    3D Printed Patterns

Mike those patterns look good. Being able to print patterns is one of the things that got me started towards my printer build. I wouldn’t worry about the weight of the casting you can always add plugs or a steel rim or a lead rim like myfordboy.

    3D Printer Build

Don thanks for the pics. You have a very nice tight setup. Your LED strips look a lot brighter than the ones I have and I like the cable chain. It seems like there’s little middle ground with cable chain either you love them or hate them. I’ve got a 3D CAD that I’ve been using for around 10...

    3D Printer Build

Hi Don Yep that’s one of the things on my “Other Stuff To Think About” list. I was given some LED light strips and there ok but I just can’t think of a way to mount them where they would light up the build plate without just being in the way. They would probably work well for cabinet lighting...
