    Drill America end mills

While searching for a source for a 7/16" or 12 mm end mill, I found that Home Depot advertises the brand Drill America for online order and home or store delivery. Anyone have experience with these? Opinions? Immediate need is for use on mild steel bar from Tractor Supply... I'm making a...

    Hardware store steam engine

I'm compiling your pictures and instructions to study. My major problem will be to find a real hardware store still in business... There is currently only one that I know of in a 50 mile radius! The big box stores are such a pain to find anything.

    Hardware store steam engine

I thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make this list and the explanation of the build. I will study it and assemble the parts to hopefully build a working engine with my Grandson. I have asked if he was interested, but have not had a reply yet. You are an inspiration to all Grandpas.

    Fusion 360 replacement

Since the powers that be have seen fit to loose all my projects(at least I can't find them since the "Team" update), what is a free cad system that one can learn easily. My only successful experience with CAD has been with Fusion. It worked fine for a couple years, even got through the Gui...

    metric lathe thread dial request

I have a 7x14 Micromark with imperial leadscrew. The secret to threading withe these lathes is not the thread dial, but leaving the half nuts engaged when threading, weather having a metric or imperial leadscrew.

    metric lathe thread dial request

Craig, I'm in E. Tennessee, near Jonesborough. Is your lathe a 7x mini?

    metric lathe thread dial request

Where in the world are you located? I ask because Amadeal(UK) stocks a metric thread dial for the mini lathe. https://www.amadeal.co.uk/acatalog/Thread_Dial_Indicator_for_the_Mini-Lathe.html Little Machine Shop(US) does not.

    Question about chuck/arbor in tailstock

If you, by mistake, cut it too short, you can always drill and tap the cut off end for a SHCS and adjust the screw to where the taper ejects as you want.

    Question about chuck/arbor in tailstock

I would extend the tailstock barrel, insert the problem taper until it seats properly. Then mark the taper where it emerges from the tailstock barrel. Eject again and measure 2 1/8" from first mark, toward tail end of taper of course, and make another mark. Then cut it off at this 2nd mark. This...

    Question about chuck/arbor in tailstock

Craig, I assume you have a 7x lathe, as no other type of lathe has this problem that I know of. If so, a normal MT2 taper is too long for the Tailstock. You can purchase a drill chuck from Harbor Freight and other sources with a shortened MT2, or you can cut off a bit of the one you have. I have...
