    Involute Gear Cutters

Steve- I agree. Question is, who/where has reasonably priced good quality cutters? US based? Thanks, Sid

    First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

The Rider Ericsson catalog lists 5,6,8 and 10” models for domestic water pumping. So this engine is full size as is. Sid

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

That’s true. But eventually after asking for help, then ignoring everyone’s good advice, everyone is going to stop offering that good advice. It is his turkey. He can burn it anyway he wants.

    First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

Yes. For the first run I disconnected the pump. But to have real efficiency the cold side needs to be cooled by the water it pumps through the cold side water jacket. Sid

    First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

That was its primary function, pumping water. Thanks, T Green.

Maybe you wouldn’t have to if you didn’t take shortcuts? What’s going to happen every time you have to take a plug out as part of the debugging process??

What is LOCTITE 638 used for? LOCTITE® 638 High Strength Retaining Compound Designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts, particularly with narrow bond gaps up to 0.25mm (0.01"). Great for a fast cure on all metals, including passive substrates like stainless steel.

You cold easily make some suitable gaskets from brass (I know you probably don't have copper) turning the ID and OD in the lathe then soften them by heating and quenching. Loctite is not the answer. (or JB weld for that matter!) ;)🤣

    First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

Well, it is 5" bore, so pretty big! Have to do some finishing work and the fire box next. But it was good to see it run with essentially no goofing around. Sid

Been working on this on and off for a couple of years. It's for a customer/friend.

    Jekyll's Pendulous Engine c 1870

That's a great looking/running engine! I too really like the crinkle black paint. Do you plan to do a build article or publish plans? That seems like a really good candidate for Live Steam mag. Something different! Sid

You should be able to capture the SW movement in a mpeg or an avi file and post it??? Sid

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

Yes. Roy has retired to some extent, and now it is being carried on by a new fellow. Nice guy. He knows the ignition systems. Brian- I would doubt that CT would have anything for a plug of that size. Maybe?? I know cnc has them Sid
