    Nalon Viper 2.5cc CI Engine

Thanks. Armchair comments v welcome. :-) Yes the Hole will go straight through. This was sloppy CAD work on my part as I'm a Fusion360 novice. Also the driver will be as flush against the front bearing as I can get it. RE that 'red corner' i will chamfer so theres a 2mm additional material there.

Not at all. I'm just taking a while to digest it all! :-)

    Nalon Viper 2.5cc CI Engine

Hi, and thanks again for the replies. I'll be making some swarf soon i promise so please bear with me as I'm going slow to go fast later (or probably slow by all your standards. At the risk of doing this one 'to death', below is the CAD now taking into account what I think i've heard above by...

    Nalon Viper 2.5cc CI Engine

Thanks everyone. I think I understand the principle now and have the confidence to have a go soon. Work commitments and a bit of workshop remodelling (an organiser for my bar stock that is better than just chucked in a box) and a bit of fettling with the machines tightening gibs, tailstock...

    Nalon Viper 2.5cc CI Engine

Hi All, after finishing the two Boll Aero 18s and a workshop covered in castor oil and several scars and cuts on my fingers, it's finally time to get going on my next engine. After a few recommendations I have decided to go for the Nalon Viper 2.5 using plans from the Motor Boys crew at...

The Flying Millyard 5 ltr bike

This is amazing. The attention to detail is something else. Making your own custom generator.. think that takes the prize. was trying to suss out what equipment the guy was using. I guess this sort of project is not possible using the type of 'mini' lathe/mills people generally have in the shed...

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

OK, I felt like i needed to do the corny video of the running and build. Apologies for the royalty-free music. I wasn't feeling inspired :) Patrick

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

Nalon Viper seems like a great next challenge and has a great history too. Im reading the modelenginenews and MotorBoys sites articles and plans. If Peter Chinn is involved in naming it, it has to be worthy of a build!

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

UPDATE: She Lives!!!!!! :D:D:D:D After a few more hours in the shed.... success!!!! Thanks for all the advice. So I had to go backwards to go forward and ended up re-making the cylinder liner and piston. This time I used carbide grinding paste after having had the bad previous experience...

    V-twin ignition systems

Hi Dan, I'd love to build one of those. I'm working up to it. Regarding the ignition I wouldn't worry too much as there are a number of commercial options and plenty of schematics if you want to have a go at building your own. Also there must be a manual contact-breaker option too ? Take a look...

Hi, i think it was the pic and that was just a spec of crud. Here is a better photo. Thanks, P

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

Ok, a status update on this. Like all things as a beginner with this hobby/passion, sometimes when you think you're really close you have to back up again to get to the finish. Here's where I am at right now: I mentioned above that I lost compression while I was testing. I suspect that its...

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

Hi Thanks Ramon, ill remove the threaded part lower down and try again. I have made a little fuel bowl that screws on to that and the spray bar is that long to reach the bottom. I could shorten it and use a bit of tube too.

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

OK. Status update. Spurred on by the helpful comments in this thread, I am taking it that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the timings etc and I should keep going! My thought is that I had the hole in the spray bar facing in the direction of the flow rather than 90deg. Since writing...

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

Thanks for all the replies above. One thing that came to mind going through the replies was this: Could there be any other leaks e.g between the bottom of the cylinder liner and the crank case be a cause of the fuel being pushed back down the fuel line that I mentioned above? i.e. when I turn...

    BollAero1.8 Running Gremlins

Hi, yes the hole is 1mm. The spray bar is 3.4mm and the venturi is 5.25mm. I had the spray bar set at 90deg.
