Over the past two weekends I added a power feed unit to the Hardinge TM mill. It seems all the after market power feeds are designed for Bridgeport mills. The Hardinge not only does not follow BP design, it has no provision whatsoever for a power feed addition. (The UM version of this mill came with power feed but the method used is of no help on the TM.). Nevertheless, I forged ahead and now have power feed on the x axis.
Nice looking project, it’s always fun to add to one of your machines. I’m just finishing up on the 4th and final axis on my DRO. The knee on my Bridgeport is proving to be a real tough one. Contoured column and custom bracket but…. I want to do it right. Plus I want to be able to look at it, not cobble it.

This wasnt today, but I've finally made the video about it...

I bought (probably too many) workshop machines, for the workshop I'm building...

Also, I'd love your opinions on the machines I got too.
Im in the process of cleaning them up. So expect questions and more videos about them soon.

No such thing as "too many" machines, only you need the space for trhem.

No snow today except light dusting I need to vacuum today as going in and out so many times tracked in lots of grit. Kitty is starting to shed so even with multiple daily brushing there is fur everywhere It get in furnace filter but I just take it outside and blow it out wit air hose being a cheap skate $45 for filter is just too much to throw away for a little fur on it . I have a service that comes twice a year that measures flow and duct pressure he seems to be ok with my “ rebuilt” filters. At least there is no restriction.

Continuing to work on my DRO knee bracket. What you’re looking at is the Y Axis custom bracket made out of a piece of heavy 6x4 angle iron, machined to lighten it up. The last photo is of one of two spacers for the knee bracket mount. I want to have the open DRO Z axis facing away from stray chips so it will be shielded. The bracket holding the moveable part will be interesting.

Straight lines and scrolls on a practice plate. Straight lines are the toughest!

Fixed an antique tractor that had been pushed on a bit too hard. This is before sanding and finishing. I was very surprised how well the 3D printing pen did. The base plastic fused well with the PLA and it feels rigid.

Today, I are been mostly doing woodworking.

Ran out of welding gas which was annoying. So I did some woodworking. Trying to get this bench seat finished so that I can get back to engines.

It’s supposed to drop 3 1/2” snow tonight then get to -1 f by morning I’ve had all the snow and cold needed for winter .

Well I know the project for today Weather map says we got 5.5” wet snow then supposed to continue all day so I’ll probably be out most of today . It’s about 30 deg f so not freezing cold but I can see et feet and at least one load of wash . It’s just surmise and I can see snow falling I can already hear snowmobiles across the highway

Got a bvelcom surprise . I opened the front door o go out an urns out it’s been rang . Still it’s very wet but snow banks are shrinking. Unfortunately it’s supposed t Freze hard tonight so I’ll go toss some salt on the walkway I don’t like this as it gets tracked all over he house and kitty gets her toys in it helping spread it around . She does not lick salty things so she will be ok .

Just laying back today I’ve gt a bunch of holes to drill and tap. M 3 so I’ll have to be careful .

Had a bad day right from the start I must have gone to bed much earlier than I thought. . I got up about 2am then slipped and fell on the bedroom floor playing sports taught me to tool and not put hands snd fingers out to stop. So I did roll and did not hit my head But the my right foot had sryheritus so it kinda club footed well I could not get ofiyionrd to get up easily
Like the. Add I’ve fallen and can’t get up I finally managed to get back on the bed but I was very dizzy that settled down and I made my way to the living room and sat in my chair I was still Woosey So I called my sister who was at work . Then I called the ER and got my nurse she had me take BP and oxy % BP was a bit high but she said it should go down which it did back to normal She said I was probably dehydrated an recommended a Couple glasses of water or juice So I did that and I’m about back to normal. Just a bad day It’s a good lesson for what can happen to old people

I’m continuing to make progress on my DRO. I finally got the vertical knee bar dialed in up and down within tolerance. A real pain. I’ve mounted it this way to keep chips out and be able to use the shield.

Thanks, I can’t wait to get this done. I have other projects waiting. I understand the concern about the cables. way too much length, but the manufacturer doesn’t know your installation. Better too long than short.

I needed to put a set of keys outside so EMS. Could get in withou busting door locks my sister helps with my taxes and a king she is an accountant I had a place all picked out drill all set drill set all ready just needed her hubby to come and help with the hooks .

Well she didn’t like it as an engineer never argue with an accountant I can’t imagine arguing for half hour about how to put a simple hanging hook in Because of all the snow this year I have a large bank with plenty of ice in it . No need to do any shoveling . Just lean over rail drill simple starter hole scrvthe dang thing in , hang the keys . How simple can that be. So she yells at hubby to shovel snow and ice so he can stand in flat spot. . I’m just giggling by this time . I had a piece of carpet all set for a knell pad. Actually all I needed was the hook as I just didn’t have one . The hole process took almost 45 min . If you are engineer don’t argue with accountant especially your sister as project leader I had many go arounds with accounting in industry the advantage was that I could call a spade a spade in what ever language I chose but I have to be civil with family the keys normally have one with blue plastic the other has red plastic for easy identification . I just had to get the last dig in, I said your keys are red and blue so are mine , how come these are plain? I love how accountants can twist faces when cornered . LOL

B: Talking of snow, we had a total of 4 inches of snow in Late November, that lasted a week, staying a few degrees below freezing! Now we are forecast to have the same "next week..." But they have forecast it 3 times since November and it hasn't arrived yet. I think they have the signs for weather pre-written and shuffle them like a pack of cards just to give the watcher some variety...? Oh, we did have another inch fall in January... and 2 frosty nights a week ago...
Fortunately, I don't live in what you would call a COLD place, and simply cannot imagine what it must be like to be locked-in by weather for 3 months at a time, every year? Below 10deg.C (50F?) chills my arthritic joints enough!

3 months? Below freezing begins in October or even September. Snow that stays on the ground is normal in early December and finally melts in March or April. December through March can see below zero F. on any day and sometimes as far down as -40 or colder. The normal last frost in the spring was about June 10 but that has become sometime in May the past few years. The fall first frost used to be near the middle of August but that has become more likely mid September to early October in the last few years. People can argue about global warming but I have lived through it.
