Hello again chaps! The other question was about carburetters. We are talking about a 400cc four stroke, with a flyball govenor, designed to run about 800 rpm max. Stuarts supplied these engines complete, as well as doing casting sets, and they were buying in "Longuemare" carbs. You can buy these easily enough on Ebay (a lot of engine makers used 'em) but they always have "antique/rare/collector's piece" in the description, or a vendor thinking "this is old, hmmm, must be worth lots of money!"

We're not really into that sort of thing.

My dad and I would prefer to find a carb design that would look in keeping with the engine (hasn't been sold for 80+ years, so you know the idea) that we could make more easily than a Longuemare, as whilst a modern Walbro would work fine, one would look completely incongruous, and stick out like a sore thumb on a 600.

Assuming he still wants to run on petrol then get hold of drawings for he one Stuart use don the Lightweight, AE or a Wall carb or any other carb with float chamber. Then adapt that for layout and size. Interesting items to fabricate

Hell Jasonb. Thanks very much for the reply, that design of carb. does look the part! Do you have any idea where I might find drawings for that or similar? I'm quite happy to attempt the fabrication. Again I'm gratefull for any help I can get. David Curl.
