I've been lurking for a couple of months and finally decided to take the plunge and post my first post. I'm a member of a couple other machinist forums and found this one after getting interested in model making. I've been machining for a while now, but was running out of other projects to work on in my retirement.

My first model was a very simple wobbler that I made for my grandson. While looking for my next project I discovered the beautiful Stirling 60 model and plans by J. Jonkman. As soon as I saw it and found that a very nice set of plans were available, I knew that I had found my next project.

I just ordered some material and will be starting on it soon. Even though I'm retired I have other things going on that take my time, but I'll just keep working away at it as time permits.

I've already cut the Pyrex test tube. I've never cut glass like that before and wanted to make sure I could successfully to it before buying a bunch of brass material.

I've already learned a lot from this forum. Even though I have a decent amount of machining experience, model making is a unique niche, as I'm sure you all know, and I have a LOT to learn about it!
