Hello everyone, like the title says it's 1:45 AM here and I have been in bed since 10:00 pm. I just took another lortab and Valium to see it this will help and have a heating pad going. I Had a cervical injection this morning at 10:00pm. that is suppose to help with the pain going through my right arm down to my thumb and forefinger. That is better but it is now but now the pain has worked it's way up to the right side of my head and jaw and the headache that I have been getting is really on the high pain level side. Looks like it will be a long nite for me. Oh and the cause of all of this pain is a large herniation at the C5-C6 and a bulged disk between the C6 and C7. I have some problems going on in my lower back also but they are focusing on the cervical area first but the is the most server. It happened 6 weeks ago and they want to continue with physical therapy and these injections for a minimun of 6 months. In the mean time all I can do is drive to work, put in my time and come home. No lifting, pulling, pushing....etc. They told me explicitly that I can't work in my machine shop till I get better. I still haven't gotten a definitive answer of at what that "get better" really means. This is the time I usually get back into my shop and continue on with where I left off last spring.
I know one of the first things I am going to build once I get some spare cash is going to be the powered draw bar. No way can I reach up above my head and crank on the draw bar. Another thing I am going to have to do is figure a way to rig up a hoist to help me life the 3 and 4 jaw chucks on and off the lathe. The 5c isn't to heavy so I think I can manage that. The next problem of course is being able to pull hard enough and push hard enough to get the D1-4 mounts tight enough and same going for the chuck jaws.
I wasn't to active on the board this summer, between work demanding extra time during the week and most weekends and trying to keep on top of all the day to day chores that summer brings with my log home and new landscaping needs there just wasn't time for the shop or getting on the board. It's winter time again and I will be contributing as much as I can and offering any help that I can.
Rick it was refreshing to come back after being off this summer and see that the board is still being run with the same philosophy that it originated with. Excellent job and thanks again for providing us with what I consider the best place on the net for those of us who love to build our small hobby engines. I see that over the summer a lot of new people have joined. Some just starting out building their first models, which is where I was a year ago when I found this site. And several new very talented experienced builders. Your dream has definitely taken off and that's because you and the rest of the moderators have done an excellent job of keeping it on track. I know it must take a lot of effort on everyone part.
Sorry for my whining in the beginning, I just had to have someone to talk to and this is where it ended up.
I am following all the treads I can and really look forward to seeing more of the new builds and pics in progress....The hints and tips is also one of my favorites. And I have a lot of reading to catch up on the summer activities. Keep em coming guys, they really motivate me to get better so I can going in my shop....hopefully soon.
