I would find a oscillator design you like, use the above diagram to make a drill guide for the ports on the trunion and make it! Check out a few of the designs on Jon-Tom, or Google Easy Build. Hardest decision should be whether to build vertical or horizontal...

That's exactly what I'll do. I'll make a drill pattern from sheet metal at work and crack on. It will be a very simple stand up engine on a brass upright, just to get it going. Thanks very much.

Glad to be of help. I started figuring this stuff out trying to design Brian Rupnow's double oscillator. I figured it can't be that difficult, and I'm too cheap to buy the plans... I asked around on the various forums and got bits of info here and there, found the simulator, and decided to draw up the layout to help me make the model. It's still in the design stage... I enjoy learning Fusion 360 as much as building engines. I am drawing up some engines and things I want to cast in Aluminium, and 3d printing patterns for them. Good luck and remember to post your build!

Had a go at reproducing the diagram with my numbers. It's going to be a tiddler. I'll use these dimensions to produce a drilling template.

This afternoon I had a couple of hours in the workshop. I milled the piece of brass which will form the stanchion, this still needs to be cut to length. I also made a drill spot template from a piece of offcut sheet steel using the diagram posted by Chucketn.
Cheers

I now have a crankshaft, progress is slow, as and when I get an hour in the workshop.

Nearly done, now need to drill the ports, make and fit the pipework, secure the flywheel.
