Glad to be here, hope to learn a lot.
Not sure if I'm going to fit in here. But I'm sure you'll let me know...
Not really doing an engine.
Got a project that I think this place can help me complete...

A question already for ya.
I don't currently own a lathe but I am looking out for one.
I live in a small apartment so a hobby lathe is what I am searching for. I have a project that requires some machining for steel, aluminum and possibly titanium. Any thoughts from the pro's?

Small chinese 7" lathe that you can pick up and store away.Very quiet running but is noisy machining
so would buid a fold up accoustic box for noise reduction and containing chips etc. Hi by the way

I agree with Baz. The Chinese 7" lathes are great value and certainly small enough for an apartment. You can also purchase small stand-alone mills from the same manufacturers but I can't comment on them as I've never owned one.
