I would like to thank everyone for getting me this far.

Very early this year I was diagnosed with bronchial cancer, where it joined onto the lower part of one of my left lung lobes and I was not expected to get through it more than six months.
Due to a very special surgeon, who gave me a chance if only my body could cope, he cut the lower lobe off my left lung and took the cancer away with that and part of the bronchial tube, unfortunately some of the release cells had got into my chest lymph nodes, and this is where my body had to do a lot for itself.

Unfortunately, I had lost a lot of weight, 7 stones (98pounds) and this left me decidedly weakened and when they tried to clear up the stray cells with chemo a few months ago, my body started to shut down.

They have tried again this week, and even though I am going through very bad side effects, it looks like I have maybe turned the corner a little, still a long way away yet, but there is a least a glimmer of hope and at this time, I will be able to get through Christmas and New year, another dose of chemo between, after that, it is in the lap of the gods. There are another load of chemo to come and a month of daily radiotherapy at the end, sometime in April or May.

Why am I telling you all this?

My life for the last 50 years has revolved around model engineering and model making in general, it is/was my life.

During this sad time, from early in the year, you have listened to my woes and given me good support through it.
I read this site usually 3 to 4 times a day and still read constantly books I have stored on my kindle, even while I was recovering from my operation, despite being under the influence of very strong morphine which gave me weird hallucinations, in the hope I could help someone even in my disabled condition. I am sorry, but it is in my blood now, as it has always been, always trying to help, and you forum members have done it in spades for me.

Thank you so much.

John

It's good to hear you are back in the fight! That delay must have been nerve wracking, waiting for the OK to go ahead with chemo. Now, God willing, you and chemo will get the rest of it for good.

John, your postings have given me hope in my times of dispare. You've allowed me to watch your fight, both with disease and in adapting your shop, and that has helped me with my, much smaller, demons.

So, thank you, John, and I'm praying for you.

Merry Christmas!!

Pete

Well, John. You've come this far, so there isn't any reason not to carry on now. There are plenty of folk out there who can and will benefit from your experience.
Hang on in there for a few more years to continue with the mission.

John,

I'm not so good at this kind of thing, but I do thank you for all the inspiration you have given all of us and I can only hope to wish you the best.

I especially appreciate your help to all of us, without regard to our experience or our faulty reasoning as we continue to learn.

You descriptions of how you have continued your shop life as things continue to change is also an inspiration.

Thank you again and best wishes,

Thank you so much for your kind words, unfortunately, being alone at Christmas isn't too good, which means I can't be in contact with anyone physically at this time, just me and Gunner to share Christmas lunch with. He's got the turkey, and I am on liquids.

As you have wished for me, I do hope you all have a Very Good Christmas and a Happy New Year

John
