Hallo Model Engine Friends
You can see the photos made during the lapping work from my cilinderliner. I used the ACRO-Lap tools made in U.S.A. beautifull made and from a very good quality.
I have already a great collection of different sizes Adjustable Laps from this manufactorer.
I could by them during an Oldtimer Meeting in my country from a dealer who had a sale out from these tools because of the fact that there was not enough interest from the people, but i guarantee you they are worth every Euro or Dollar
Yesterday i have visited a great nearly new Toolwarehouse in my country filled with so many Tools of all kind and size and of course for all kinds of work so i did n't leave the building without buying something for example a couple of special Toolholders for Milling Saw Blades and of course the round Saw Blades in several sizes have been bought.
Many greetings from Gerard-mdelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends
Yesterday i made the Contra piston for my Holly Buddy 2.5 cc model engine.
As material i used "Cast Iron Mehanite" quality which is ideal for this engine part and rather easy to make.
I made several photos during the process hopefully they give enough information.

Many greetings from Gerard-modelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends,
This time i made the piston for the Holly Buddy 2.5 cc model diesel engine.
I made the piston from real good material known as Cast Iron bar in Mehanite quality.
The photos wll show you the process of making this engine part of course a little oversized to lap it into the cilinderliner later on.

Many greetings from Gerard-modelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends,
Last weeks i made the Crankshaft from my Holly Buddy 2,5 cc .I used a very good quality EN24 Steel for that job.
The photo's will show you as usuall how i did the work and as result the Crankshaft.
I hope you like what i made on my small machinery.

many greetings from Gerard-modelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Nice work Gerard

I use always 42CrMo4 steel for my crankshafts

Why do you take the crankshaft out of the chuck and put it back in again ?

Here's some pictures of the crankshaft for mine Nova 1 ( a Dutch desing from I.J.v.Leeuwen during WW2 in 1943)

Hallo Jef
It was only for all the photos i had to make that i took the Crankshaft out of the lathe.Unhappily i do n't have such a good lathe, but it can do because i am only an
beginner in lathe excersising.I made nearly invisible marks so that i could put it allways back at the same place.Happily that it worked.By the way i do have a complete Nova 1 engine received from a friend in Wales(U.K.)I made some parts for it ,but most of the engine was already OK only the Crankcase has to much damage to repair so i need a Crankcase that should be fine.I will send photos from this all as soon as possible to your PB.I recognized the Nova 1 Crankshaft immediatly looks great what you made that's the real Craftmanship.
You asked why i did n't use Cr42Mo4 chroom molybdeen steel symple because i could n't get it nearby. My EN42 steel which seems to be far enough for my work is what i could buy in England by College Engineering Supply under www.collegeengineering.co.uk .I think your that your choice will be the better one.I hope to receive a good adress for me to order
It's correct the Nova 1 is indeed a Dutch design from Mr.I.J.v Leeuwen during WW2 -1943.
I hope to hear from you soon

greetings from modelmotor.

If you want , I can provide a crankcase for the Nova , I have made my own castings for it .
Most of my materials I order in the Netherlands , it is a changing stock according to whether he can buy of rest pieces , good services , never got a problem , https://www.borenexpress.nl/

Hallo Model Engine Friends

I show now how i made the hole in Crankshaft which is connected indirectly with the hole from the Venturi. To get the hole at the correct point of Crankshaft angle 50 degree TBDC i use different kinds of degree bows,Gradient Triangles, hard paper, marker,Rulers and a calculator.I did n't made photos from each calculation part this would be given to many photos you will understand.
I also show you how the Crankshaft pin was made. It's a real press in construction just like from manufactorers.I had the intention to make the Crankshaft and the Crankpin together as one unit, but i do n't have an independ Chuck so i choose the option from the press in construction which has proven to be Ok.
I choose a goodkind of material from a bore bar in a perfect quality.
I hope you like the photos you must think that i always use symple ideas, tools and my way of making all these things might be not as proffesional as i should like they are ,but it all can function in good order.

many greetings from Gerard-modelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends,

Here are the construction photos from my homemade Prop driver and collet.I assembled the complete model engine to see how it looks. The missing parts are the Conrod and the Wristpin however they are essential parts i will have to make them carefully in a bloodhot room under the roof of my house so this will take some time to fix these parts and to lap the piston into the cilinderliner.
I hope that you all like the photos i made from this excersise as well.

Many greetings from Gerard-modelmotor-The Netherlands-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends,
"So Far So Good",but not ready yet with the complete built from my Holly Buddy engine.
What's left at this moment? The Wristpin needs to be made, but this will not take too long i expect the proper fit from the Wristpin into the Piston will be made later.
Then i will have to lap the Piston into the Liner for a good fit.
This will take much more time which will be known by many model engine builders.
Then if everything fits OK i will complete the engine and i will have to speak a word with my chemestry man to deliver me some good quality of Diethyl Ether.I hope that this will be possible again because of the strong regulations.I have a second adress to try when this all wan't work.

many greetings from modelmotor-Gerard-The Neherlands-Europe.

Hi Ed,
No indeed only a Wristpin needs to be made and then the lapping work will need to be done. Then most of the work will be finished.I hope my chemestry man will help me out with the most important part of my diesel fuel will see, however he's not easy to work with when it goes about the ingredient Diethyl Ether cause of very strong regulations from governement in my country, but someway i must get a change to obtain this part of my fuel.

many greetings from modelmotor-Gerard-The Netherlnads-Europe.

Hallo Model Engine Friends,
Here are the latest pictures made during the production from my Gudgeon pin,the reaming from the Piston holes and the assembling from those parts.I made a long hole into the Gudeon, but left a small part closed inside the pin so it's not open from one end to the other end of the Gudgeon pin.Into the holes from the Gudgeon pin i put a couple of very tiny teflon pads which gives an extra smooth running from the Piston through the cylinder in case the Gudgeon pin should come out of the Piston ,but i made a nice light press from the Gudgeon pin into the Piston hole(s) to prevent coming out.
I hope you enjoy the pictures also.

many greetings from modelmotor-Gerard-The Netherlands-Europe.
