When fitting the DROs to my mill I thought I would have to strip down or
buy a 90o angle drill for fitting the X axis.As it turned out I did not need to
When looking online I saw advertised a chuck and adaptor to fit an angle grinder. What a great idea,i had a 4" Makita angle grinder,a spare Jacobs chuck
and a lump of steel.Off we went. The griner spindle was M10 and the chuck
1/2" BSF.Not enough meat to fit direct by reworking the SDS spindle so I
had to bore out the chuck and fit an adaptor. SIMPLES and works great
At the same time, fed up with loosing my vice soft jaws on the floor I
machined up a couple of piece of 6mm alum angle and fitted Magnets GREAT

pretty neat . i have a few of them things laying around. you just gave me an idea on how to apply these old chucks to something useful Thanks.

I did this with an old 'Wolf' angle grinder which was thrown out at work. If I remember it had an odd UNF spindle, so it cost me a tap! I thought I might mount it on the tool-post and use it as a grinder now and again, but I've not got that far with it so far. I do have a cheap speed controller from China (via ebay) which might come in handy - it has field and armature connections for a proper large DC brush motor, but it'll run a universal motor as is found in these things OK, too.
