I have been looking around for a nice micro lathe to aid in building my 1/4" scale steam locomotives. One that caught my eye was a 7" grizzly, has anyone ever had one and how do you like it? I dont want to drop alot of cash but I dont want to cheap out. I would like to know what anyone has and how they like it.
Thanks,

Don't know about the Grizzly however if you would use the "Search" feature you will come up with lots of info about small/micro lathes.

For quality, versatility and complete matching accessories you cannot beat Sherline. Its American made, and extremely well supported. It is more expensive than the import stuff. They offer both a lathe and mill in a couple choices.

Do a google search for "mini lathe" and you will find more than enough reading to keep you busy for the rest of the day.

good place to start is 'mini lathe.com'

Ryker: I agree with Ron. Take a close look at Sherline before you make a decision. A friend of mine had a Sherline he wasn't using ( found a Emco with every known accessory ) so he sold it to me at a good price. Thought it would be handy for small pieces on the model engines I build. Have found it to be indispensable. I still can't get over how accurate it is. Good luck in your search. Roger

I'm very happy with my Sherline. I bought the long bed one with risers for the headstock and tailstock. Very solid little lathe.

I started with a grizzly Mini lathe 7x10.
I still have it and use it. Consider it a n assembled kit as they do usealyy need help with fit finish and lubrication out of the box also they are often modified upgraded. get a 12 or 14 that is 7x12 or 7 x 14 if you can 10 gets tight fast.

The LMS or micro mark versions have most of the improvements from the factory.
I chose the c2 over a taig because of price and more real lathe features liak ability to thread and a built in standard compound slide. these are add ons with some lathes.
