Following the CNC modification of my Bf20...I thought it was time to use with BobCADV25 fourth axis in order to proceed with the construction of my locomotive. Starting from an idea view on youtube this is my creation. I used a harmonic gearbox with reduction ratio 1:100. The bearing is what was in the cutter and replaced it long ago. The picture are showing the major components...I'll have to do some tests to choose the right motor.

Interesting project, I'll be keeping an eye on progress.

Hello Wizard69
The armonic drive comes from Thailandia...It is in excellent condition. I bought it via ebay.
Best regards

Sounds very impressive project, So thank you for sharing with us. I have to say that this post will shared with my all friends and also I will try to make this this 4th axis router at my home. If I need more help then I will contact with you on this post.

Hi Paolo,

just registered in the forum to say thanks for the photos you posted, your build is within my machining capabilities and I will follow your design ideas.

Received my harmonic drive this week after months of waiting for a nice offer on ebay, got it for $60, in pictures it looked crappy but the seller was reputable and they assured it was OK, they did not lie, its a 128:1

Let me ask you if I recognized all the parts correctly:

Do you have more images or sketches I can use to model mine? Im good at solidworks, my CNC router was finished in drawings before I purchased a single part (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/cnc_wood_router_project_log/10927-1st_router_-_peu.html)

I did download a PDF with a simple dissasembly, that adds to the understanding of the model.

If you do not have photos, maybe you can tell me after you finished what were your thoughts about it, what would you do differently or improve.

Thanks!!

Pablo

upon further studying I think what I labelled chuck coupling is a cap for the 4th axis structure, not sure...

Hi PEU
At moment I don't have more picture of my creation...but You thought well!! The description parts are correctly identified and your second opinion is right. This is a cap for the structure and the output shaft is also a back plate for the chuck...! Thanks for visiting my post.
Best regards and please feel free to ask...
Paolo
